URSS

Remembering that day…
12 April 1961
This was the date when the USSR announced the world that the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin has given a turn to earth with the rocket Vostok I. The trip permitted him to observe the planet from the space, something similar to what some meteorological satellites do today. When the trip was finished the soviets diffusion medias gave the news that when Yuri Gagarin was with Vostok I on top of the earth he mentioned: “here I did not see any God”. This elevated to the maximum the Soviet Union in the space race. The impact of the news was so big to the United States that that news obligated the United States’ president John F. Kennedy to organize one program to start advancing in the space race.

This man, Yuri Gagarin, put the URRS’s name really high, but not only that, he made the first great advance in the space race. With this advance, the Soviets were winning the space race and we can say the title of the “best nation”. With this, the United States’ government needed to start looking forward and try to be at the same level as the Soviets. What they did to be at the same level was that they landed first on moon. That made like a more conflict among this countries to be the best. They have been several rumors of if the US really landed on the moon or not. There have been several unclear details that made the people think that the US did not reached their goal to be at the same level as there enemy the Soviets.
