Will it work?

The new law in Arizona (SB1070) gives the right to police officers to arrest and interrogate any person that can create suspicion of being an illegal immigrant. All this created a completely different view of the state of Arizona. All people sees them as racists. This issue came to my ming and I thought it was something interesting to be analyze.

I personally think that this law may be reasonable up to certain point; it is excesive that police officers have the right to arrest any person when they feel like it. But also, I think that Arizona needs this kind of laws. Every year thousands of people cross the border in a illegal way; this people avoid taxes and they consume and use the state facilities.

Maybe Arizona will have some positive results, at least less imigrants will enter to the state in illegal ways. But this will create more negative results than positive. One example is that Arizona will have a massive reduction in their tourism incomes, because many Mexican people have their vacations over there, and as a result of this law; they see Arizona as racist and over the edge.
So the question is: Will this law work for Arizona?

Global Warming Actions

Our partial video it's about the topic global warming focused on the United States of America. So we investigated to make our first video and we ended reading to articles that talked about this topic. We found two interesting articles; one of them was called “Leaving a Good legacy”. This article talked about senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry who introduced the American Power act. These laws have a number of elements that try to lead business and environmental groups to a cleaner energy-path. Both senators will focus their career on creating more jobs and to find alternative fossil fuels.

Both articles said that global warming is a very big problem that nobody seems to care about. We are not seeing the big picture here; most of all think that this is just a problem that will make the world a hotter, and maybe some icebergs will melt, but at the end we say: "Come on!, world can't die." And it is true, world will not die, but life on it will. That is what we are not seeing, human race will be extinguished, and so all kind of life on this planet, and it is our entire fault. It is time for us to change, start making the right decisions.

CRIME “Stop this please, we need help”

"Stop killing innocent people".........

What does CRIME means? After starting with this topic; I will like to share what does a crime means. A crime is an offence against a public law. In my words, for me a crime is an action that a person made in order to violate the law and to damage our society. A crime is always sanctioning if the person that commits it was found. We can’t see this topic as one, because in my opinion this joins lots of people in order to get with the criminal.

What are some types of crimes? We can find lots of crimes but the most important are these ones:

1) Serial crime (with a serial nature).

2) Federal crime (federal offense)

3) Organized Crime (transnational grouping manage by the leader)

4) Signal Crime (anti-social behavior)

5) Verbal Offence (limitations on freedom of speech)

8) White-Collar (committed by a well-standard person)

I’m going to be honest; I love crimes, I love the investigations and mystery that all these actions involve. For example there is a program on TV that I always see it (it name: “La Ley y El Orden”). I prefer to do these kinds of things and spend my night watching these movies than hanging out with my friends /depends.

Now, I’d had already see millions of cases of crimes that were very difficult and horrible to solve because they were about suicide or violation, so they were very aggressive. But one recent crime that happened right here in Mexico captured my attention. This crime was the one from the girl Paulette.

The first time I saw it, I thought: “ it’s the mom definitively”; but then when the girl appeared on the bottom of her bed, I started making different hypothesis. One of them is that maybe the mom got scared because it was an accident and she hide the baby, so then she get the baby out again and put it as if someone comes and put her there. But for example how does the police, with all that stuff of cameras, radios and technology couldn’t see who was the person that entered and hide the baby there. Another reason for the one I thought that was her mom is that when she is talking to the media, I don’t know if she was in shock or whatever but she doesn’t express her feelings. She was frozen; she doesn’t even have a tear.

Now, the other one that was suspicious for me or a bid doubt was her father. Maybe he wasn’t in her house, but for example he can get this as a vengeance toward her wife because they were separated. So, he left the girls and the mom says that they slept at 8 o`clock and when at 8 in the morning the “nana” came, she saw that the girl wasn’t there. But the only thing is that how does they can make this!!! Kill a girl of 4 years in order to take vengeance or any other objective that isn’t an excuse to kill a girl neither to kill someone or something.

Re-elections for presidency

I've always wondered how life in Mexico would be if we allowed a re-election for the president office. I think some good aspects could come along, but also some negative aspects would start appearing among people.

These all are personal opinions, but I believe someone should not be in the presidency more than 8-10 years because politic life would not be diverse and if one single person stays in presidency for longer than this, he/she will not let the political ambit evolve and will, eventually, lead to a catastrophe because those ideas would eventually change. Just like in a dictatorship, when the dictator dies, his ideas die with him and practically all his policies tend to change to diversify the political life.

So, coming back to Mexico, should the re-elections for presidency be allowed? In a more general perspective, I would say it's not really a matter of how many times you are in the presidency, but how much time you spend being in it. I think 6 years of presidency are fair enough to establish how you want the country to move and react, so then, why is some people saying they'd prefer a re-election?

At the end of the day, people will only think about what you did through your time being a president; so if you are president for a longer time, then you will have the opportunity to do more things. But here, we face another variant that make us think if we should allow re-elections: What is more important, quality or quantity? Would you rather stay in the presidency for 2 years and do massive positive changes or would you prefer be president for 10 years and make some minor positive changes through all that time?

I personally believe that quality is what we must care about. Just think about it; if in 2 years we do massive positive changes, who wouldn't want us back for another 2 years? That's where the re-elections come: in the moment where someone needs more time to keep the policies that have made people happy. In the case of the presidency of the cities (that lasts 3 years) I completely agree that re-election should be allowed because this small amount of time is not enough to show how much you can do and what your really ideals are. This really exemplifies the quality factor, because we take into consideration what we can do for our people in a reduced amount of time.

To finish I'd like to say that the re-elections are just a way of knowing how well a government has done through its governing time. Mexico still has a lot of problems to face before people can start thinking what is important: a new president or the same? However, some of the problems are due to the fact that Mexicans partially or totally ignore what the intention of their governors are. The thing we all still have to know is that presidents are humans; they are not perfect and they can't always do everything, so why not giving them a little bit more chance to try to do what they want and after that, I believe the choice of allowing re-elections or not should be important for us.

Are you right or left?

As we saw in the last class we had this little test called the “world’s smallest political quiz” that classified us into 5 different types of ideologies depending on our political believes; and those were: centrist, libertarian, left (liberal) statist (Big government) and Right (Conservative). I did it with the most honesty and critical thinking I could and I was placed in the centrist area (60,50). It combines our stands on economic issues with our stands with our personal issues.

At the moment we were doing it and when checking the results, I heard some people saying that they were lefts and I said that the quiz was not necessarily exact, in terms that it is not exactly what we believe in; and then he said that the quiz was accurate and that if he/she got there was because he was part of the that political view. I started thinking about the quiz and I got to a conclusion that one quiz will not determine our political situation maybe it could tell us that we are mostly one type of political view and actually the quiz explains that it measures tendencies and not absolutes.

I knew this because we can agree with some political ideas of one “party” but disagree with other ideas of the same party and like few ideas of another party, and vice versa. Therefore, how is it possible that a simple ten-question quiz can tell us that we are part of one ideology? I know it can give us a quite vision about the ideas we agree with, but it can’t tell you that you are just one party men.

Register your cellphone!

That's what the government's been telling the Mexican people from a couple of months; we all should register them before April the 10th or else our line will be suspended.

The Mexican government, nowadays, has been facing a lot of problems like corruption, narcotraffic, illegal transactions, etc. and because of this, it has told us we should all register our cellphones. This way, the Mexican government would have a better control of the things going around the country and would be able to know whenever someone does something he/she shouldn't be doing.

We may think that this is a good initiative because we would feel more secure in case someone tries to take advantage of us through the use of the cellphone; however, among the Mexican people, it has been seen that this law is not taken as a positive initative, but as a negative one. People say that the Mexican government, instead of investigating whenever there's someone using the cellphone for illegal purposes, they will listen and know what people think about the current government and not protect them, but take advantage using this technology.

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." This phrase makes me think about what the real intentions of the Mexican government are and if they are really willing to take something good from all of this or it's just another way of entering and knowing about Mexican's life. If they are really doing this because of security purposes, then, the Mexican people wouldn't complain and wouldn't feel they are giving up liberty (Just like Benjamin Franklin said) because they know that the government would be doing its job.

I don't wanna believe or make people believe that the government does this because of negative and convenient purposes, but I can't deny the fact that the Mexican government has always tried to be really oppresive about people's thoughts. I hope their purposes have changed and I hope they know what they are doing, because if not, Mexican people would, again, lose confidence in the government. In case that happened, it may be possible, like Franklin said, that they would complain about this law and demand they want their freedom back because they would feel they are not winning, but losing both liberty and security.

Why don't we involve ourselves in politics?

We are always free to choose, but when we don’t decide anything, we’re letting others decide for ourselves. This might sound confusing but it’s true. If you don’t care about some decision you’re supposed to make, people will take that decision for you and your only option will be to accept and follow whatever they chose.

When the political debate took place on April 6th, I couldn’t believe that from almost 600 students only 18 were the ones who raised their hands to participate. The rest could’ve had a lot of reasons for not getting involved like: being afraid of speaking in public, or being afraid of doing it wrong, or stammering there, etc. But most of those who didn’t participate didn’t do it just because they had no interest. They had no interest in participating nor in investigating and debating about political topics.

This is what happens also during major and important elections. There are people that don’t vote because they have specific reasons for not doing it, but most of them don’t do it just because they have no interest on choosing who will be leading their communities. Moreover, even people that don’t search to participate in politics (I mean, like getting involved with a political party) and limit themselves just to vote, are letting others choose for them. It is true that when a good man doesn’t care about politics, his punishment will be to be ruled by some man who isn’t as good or as smart as him.

I think that people should get much more involved in politics because right now they are in a “comfort zone” and they really like being there, not moving a finger but complaining about the wrong decisions that their leaders are making. It’s time for everybody to speak out but not only to speak, to do something. It’s true that it’s really comfortable to watch others struggle with our complicated issues, but commodities are gone when the results are evident. What worries me the most is that, since people are not eager to participate, power is always centered in the same small circle of people. The worst part is that most of them don’t work for the benefit of their communities but for themselves. So why are we letting this happen?

It was amazing for me to see that this conformism starts practically since we’re toddlers and it continues in high school and up until our adulthood. I saw the conformism in the tec students when they said: “que flojera”. “Que flojera” search for information, prepare for the debate, involve in politics, make an effort to do something good, do something extracurricular. Or simply “I just have much more important other things to do”.
Well, we ALL have a lot of things to do, our parents too, but we can always make a space in our agenda to participate with our community because if not, our punishment will be three times greater than the sacrifice we need to make in order to raise our voices. Think about it and please, get out of your “comfort zone”.

Political Negotiations

During the last days of March, several suicidal attacks in Russia took place. The first ones occurred in Moscow and the next ones in the region of the North Caucasus. In that week there were 51 deaths and at least two dozens of injured people. Authorities believe that these attacks were carried on by Moorish rebels that are seeking their independence. The same authorities that stated this are also afraid that this might turn into an “attacks wave” that will lead to a semi-war inside the Russian country.

On the other hand, it’s nothing new to hear that Mexico is also going through something similar to a war because of the “narcos” and their interests. I want to relate these events to politics, since we’re currently studying them.

First of all, I think that if a country isn’t unified, then it isn’t strong enough to go through hard times or to cope with though situations. It is sad to hear how countries have civil wars and so many differences inside them, but at the same time it’s normal because of the different opinions that we as unique individuals have. However, I’d like to analyze the cases of Russia and Mexico as possible inner-war countries.

I observe that minorities are the ones who start all this mess. Groups that are somehow relegated want to raise their voices and be heard (like the Moorish, for example). So we can relate politics to this by realizing that the government or other authorities should be smart enough to relax the relationships with these minor groups or at least negotiate something with them. I know most governments hate the idea of negotiating with criminals or terrorists, but I think they should reconsider this when talking about saving hundreds of human lives. I’m not saying that negotiating means giving them all they want, but perhaps stating an equilibrium point where both of them can win something and save everybody regrets from the pain and the disaster that they might carry on.

I hope the situation in Russia gets better, but unless someone powerful changes their rigid point of view and realizes that something needs to be done with the suicidal, there won’t be much of a change. About Mexico, I guess I don’t have much to say. I hope that our government realizes that the plans they’ve come up with haven’t worked and that they need to seek for better solutions. Negotiating with them is something drastically, I know, but that is just my point of view, and I’m free to express it.

Let’s start using politics and the distribution of power as something positive and helpful for the people who need it, not just for those who have that power. Let’s realize that we depend on human relations and we need people that understand this and that are able to give the ones who believe in them peace and protection.

Feminine Power

It is funny that a lot of my feminine classmates have already written about “feminism.” I really don’t understand why this emphasis on this topic is. I mean, I don’t know why suddenly people resumed the feminism topic. I completely agree with this. I consider myself very feminist, and this since I started hanging out with Michelle JAJAJA!! Women do not necessarily need to be obedient, we must be independent.

While I was doing research for the final project relating to Iran, I read a lot of interesting notes. I read about Iranian discrimination of women. In Iran, women have no right to neither participate in political issues nor express their opinions. Mexican women should feel proud and affortunated of the right and opportunities that we as human beings posses. Even though there is still some discrimination towards women because they are considered the weak sex, this issue is imporoving markedly.

This days, women are taking part in every social and political area. Women are no more repressed in Mexico or in the United States. We can see this strongly reflected in the political area. For example, who was competing with Obama for the American presidency? Hillary Clinton. She was nearly to win the elections, and she was a woman. Imagine what would of happen if a women wins the elections for the precidency in any country? This would be something memorable.

Every one should support the participation of women in every aspect. Women can contribute with new, better, and innovative ideas to improve society and solve problems. It is scientifically proved that women are much more intelligent than men JAJAJA!! So.. why don’t they take into account women’s contributions seriously? Lets make this serious and remark that women and men are equal.

High Insecurity Risks

Why do we have to be dealing with insecurity problems in our own country? This is really annoying. For example, last week I went on vacation to Tampico, Tamaulipas, and I faced a severe insecurity problem. Since we arrived to Tampico, the guides were telling us to have extreme precaution when considering going for a ride or to the shopping centers. My family and I decided not to go out of the hotel in the afternoon, and instead stay there to rest. At night, my brother, some friends, and I agreed to go and have some fun to some of the local night clubs near the hotel.
When hanging out with your friends, you never realize or notice that you could be in danger, so we were not aware of that. While we were sitting on a table, having our drinks, we noticed that some guys from the military entered the place. At the beginning everything was calm, but suddenly something happened. We started hearing some gun shots and there was panic among everyone. What is this? Gun shots in a night club? YES! Believe it or not, there were seven gun shots in a night club while I was there. Those seven shots were directed to seven guys who were sitting few tables away from ours.
Do you think this is normal? NO! This is not for rational people. It is unbelievable still for me. I still picture those images in my mind. How can we have the confidence to travel in our own country if this kind of things happens? How can we even have confidence in going out of you own house without expecting someone to pass by and shoot you? This problem should be solved NOW!! The government and the society should do their part in order to improve this huge and alarming problem…

Coalition PAN-PRD in Sinaloa with a candidate Príista!

"Senator of PRI"- Mario Lopez Valdez will fight the government of Sinaloa with PAN-PRD.

This summer we will have elections in different states of Mexico. One of them is Sinaloa. In it there are 2 main strong parties: PRI and then PAN. But due to the power of PRI and its contender, PAN has made an alliance with PRD; which is almost to be official. The thing here to talk about is how PAN can join PRD, when this two parties are extremely different. PAN is from he right thoughts and PRD is a left (izquierdista). May be we all think it is for a good for the people, to help; to solve problems; etc... But the real thing is that it is not.

Why? Because this alliance is just made to gain the political position and the power. How can I know that? Because Mario Lopez Valdez was 2 weeks ago, a Senator of PRI; which because in his party they didn't let him be the contender that represents PRI, he is with a whim of being. So he went to PAN, first; and then PAN join PRD. What they are doing it's not illegal or breaks a formal rule of the competition, but instead; they are breaking many PRINCIPLES, values, and ideals-in this case "MALOVA"(senator) is breaking the ones of PRI. Because when you enter a party is because you agree and you will respect those principles. You support them...
Well, MALOVA change of party, just for being the contender for the Election. If he was doing this without breaking the principles and violating his party, all will be okay. But because he wasn't the candidate of PRI, by "x" reason... he change with the party that is different in ideals and in principles, and not even that; they made an alliance with PRD.

What all these that is happening in Sinaloa, let me to think is... our candidates, our politicians-as MALOVA for example- are they searching and fighting to represent us and to help the society? or they just want to be voted in order to get power, money and the position? What MALOVA and other politicians are making know, with this unexpected alliances and changes of parties, is sad in somehow; and also make me reflect... if MALOVA really want to be a GOVERNOR or just a man with power?!

What others think about government...

72 year-old man

I do not know if the mexican independence really helped us because we continue with an enslaved life. The government continues exploting the citizens; they try to take out money from them every opportunity; we would probable go into a time in which we would have to pay even for the oxygen that we breath.

54 year-old man

We have a government that is trying to rescue the country, but it still has a lot of areas to better, such as the security of the country, its economy, as well as education, which all these are essential to reach the wellness of a country.

A 22 year-old lady

The Mexican Government, besides being a government of opportunities; sadly, those opportunities are not being applied in all Mexicans. The government should implement and start ACTION in order to reach peace, instead of being making manifestations that does not takes us anywhere. I do thank them the things it does respecting the rights, and innovating with things that better us such as the “seguro popular” and others. However, it should work with the opportunities that it gives in jobs. There are lots of employees with a lot of talent, but it is not being used because of the employment scarcity.

A 47 year-old woman

Our government is always promising and promising and never carried out. I think our government should promise less and act more. They should focus not only in trying to help poor people; they should also consider the middle class. Also, the government should be fair about taxes. They do not make rich people to pay taxes, but they do take advantage of the ones that do not have a lot but are not either poor. They should tried to make a society equal, in which we all have the same opportunities, as well as the same responsibilities. They should do something against narcotraffic because it is something that is affecting us A LOT!

A 12 year-old boy

I do not know much about our government, but I do know that I can see that a lot of people are poor, and that a lot of people are in the streets with jobs that are not presentable neither good. I also heard some adults talking horrible things about the government. They were saying that the government does is not working properly. It do tries to help us, but they have not found the way to reach it.

Political Cartoons

A political cartoon is a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon. They are often used to make laugh by representing current public political figures or issues symbollically or satirically.

But, do you think that political cartoons are the best way to make laugh and satirize politics? Do you think what political cartoons express is true? Would you be able to make a political cartoon?

In my opinion, political cartoons do express what the citizens see and what the politics itself represent. Even though they have the purpose of encouraging a change in politics, they are not the best way to implore for a change.

Nowadays, political cartoons are even showed daily in newspapers, magazines, and sometimes even in television.

This is a common political cartoon that expresses some of the thoughts of citizens about government. They are used to see and accept that prices rise a lot and they are not able to do anything; apart from not being able to act, government also does not act. Government do nothing agaist the rise of prices because it is something that would better them.

This political cartoon is trying to explain the tired situation that the "venezolanos" have been experiencing a total dictatorship since 1999. Most of the citizens ruled by Chávez have the strong desire of being able to vote. They wish for the day in which they can live in a democratic society. These is what is expressed in this political cartoon. The people are quite tired of the incoherences that Hugo Chávez invent daily that they even think they can finish crazy.

I think political cartoons is a good way in which the citizens can express themselves because in most of the countries the voice of people has no value.

Invictus

I decide to made a blog of the movie Invictus because I enjoyed a lot this movie and because it is a really nice one; apart from that I remembered that on class you told us about a book ( I can’t remember the name nor the author) that has basically the same theme that the movie has. In these case is about how Nelson Mandela, the South African president, achieves to unify the apartheid-torn lands. How he achieves it? well I am not really telling you so that you watch the movie; but the movie is centred a lot in rugby ( yes, rugby the sport) and how rugby’s national team becomes a key element to the country unification in a political strategy. This movie teach you that even thought it may not always be clear, behind every decision and act there’s a reason. It also gives us an overview of how political strategies are organized and the importance of paying attention to small little details that may seem insignificant but turn to be very helpful at the end and without them achieving your goal could get even harder.

South Pole

During the decades and 1940 and 1950, Argentina, Chile and Great Britain formulated a series of reclamations for the South Pole, but they were not the only countries that wanted to get that region into their territory. That is why, and through several results from the International Geophysics year (1957-1958) in November of 1959 representatives of Argentina, Chile, Australia, Belgium, France, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Union of south Africa, USSR, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and United States, joined in Washington D.C. to form an agreement that will benefit all the countries, protect the continent and foment the cooperation in investigation material. From a series of agreements, the representatives signed the first of December of 1959 the Antarctic treaty, in which it includes 14 articles that foment the international cooperation, make null whichever reclaim of ownership of the continent and to avoid the experimentation of nuclear weapons in the region. The treaty started in 1961 and had avoided conflicts between several nations like Argentina, Chile and Great Britain.

Now a days it is important the Antarctica because there is natural gas there. This treaty was important because there could have been a war among these countries to get that important region. I think they made this treaty where nobody would get the region, but beyond this, those countries still want that important continent. On example of this case is the Falkland Islands, which Argentina wants them, Britain too. These islands are very important and it is a strategic point because it is the entrance to the “so wanted region”

Abortion is OK in Spain

I was watching on TV (CNN News) that Spain approved a law which abortion was allowed more easier than before.

Spain on Wednesday approved a sweeping new law that eases restrictions on abortion, declaring the practice a woman's right and doing away with the threat of imprisonment, in part of a drive toward liberal policies that has angered conservatives and the Catholic Church.

The new law allows the procedure without restrictions up to 14 weeks and gives 16- and 17-year-olds the right to have abortions without parental consent. The senate's passage of the bill Wednesday gives it final approval.

Something that really scares me is the fact that this types of law are every time more expanded. I have always said that abortion is killing a person, even though is not even born.

The bill brings the country in line with its more secular neighbors in northern Europe is the latest of a series of bold social reforms undertaken by Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who first took office in 2004 and has ruffled feathers among many in the traditionally Catholic country.

There will be happy and unhappy people with this new law, but the ones that will never have a chance to say a word about the situation, are the babies that will be killed, that's for sure.

Government in Our Lifes

Do you think democracy is practiced in your state? Are you comfortable with your social status? Would you prefer to live in a communist country?

Nowadays, most of the country's population are poor. This is because rich people are getting richer, while poor people become poorer. The reason of this situation is that there is a failure in the distribution of the reources, opportunities, and money among the people.

The type of government in our country is called democracy. What makes a society democratic is if it looks to itself for structure. A good phrase that would summarize its meaning is: "Of the People, by the People, for the People..." the People refer to those who comprise the population. However, it is my opinion that a society or government can work without it being a democratic one. There are many countries that have had hybrid types of governments and societies; for example, France, which is Socialist, and Cuba, which is Communist.

Any type of government would work, but only for a period of time. If communism is imposed, at the beginning, everyone would be happy, would be comfortable with government and with society, poor people would have a better quality of life, and other advantages. However, as time passes, disagreements would emerge. People who want to succeed and improve their salary would start to be in strike because it does not matters how much they strive to achieve a better salary, they would not be able to get it.

Some of the reasons why I consider democracy as the best type of governing are:

-Human being is able to take their own decisions.

-Human being is able to vote (men and women).

-Human being is able to respect and be respected.

-Human being is able to practice his rights.

Remember, government forms a very important part in our lives. Lets choose the one we think its better for us, and would benefit all of us.

TANDEO

What do you think of when I say WATER? probably in the same thing I do "lack of water" and if you live in Hermosillo in TANDEO.

Water is a big issue in the world, no country has enought water for its people, exept maybe for Canada, and even they know water is a limited resource.

So, how does this affects me directly? well, in my particular case it doesn´t affects me that much because I have a tinaco, but it still changes some things like that we can only do our laundry in the afternoons (when the sun is really HOT!!!), the same goes for the dishes and my little garden isn´t that nice anymore. But to others it affects them even more because they don´t have tinacos and they have to adapt their shedules to their water hours, like for instance if the boy was used to shower himself in the mornings now he has to do it in the night and vice-versa.

Since we have no big water supplies near the city there is no other option than to rationalize water at the moment.

Maybe the real solution for us is to build a desaladora. The problem is that we also don´t have money to build one; then for Hermosillo´s people at this moment there no other choice than to adapt.

Racism against Haiti

Last week the deputy from PRD Ariel Gómez León during his radio program said some comments about the people from Haiti. Hearing this you would think he had said something about being soildare with their condition and that as a society we should join and help them; but to the contrary he started to say tha the people from Haiti are "muertos de hambre" and really despective comments about the people. He also said that they deserved to die because they are black more exactly he said " negros abusivos!!!"; In what way could he think people from Haiti are abusive?

I think that after everything they are suffering people shouldn´t be critizing them nor beeing racist at them, we should all be trying to help. If they were a poor country now they are even worst than you could imagine.

As far from the deputy Ariel "El Chunko", its a shame that someone like him is representing us;he is supose to have if not the same critiria Mexican citizens have at least watch what he is declaring because we may not all agree with him. Ariel should recieve a strong punishemnt.

Costa Rica has new president, a woman

Costa Rican presidential candidate Laura Chinchilla of the ruling National Liberation Party made history by becoming the first woman to be the commander in chief in that country.

Polls showed Chinchilla garnering 46.8 percent of the vote, with 71.1 percent of election sites reporting. Solis had 25 percent, while Otto Guevara of the Libertarian Movement had 21 percent. Election day was festive throughout the nation, with video footage showing supporters of the main presidential candidates dressed in their respective campaign colors.

60 years ago, women could not even vote, or do any other role that wasn't taking care of her family's home. Now we have an example in the person of Laura Chinchilla of how the female sex is improving in society. In the news channels now we see dozens of women who are reporting the news from the place of the events, role that was covered only by men decades ago.

It is amazing how women had progressed in the last years. Remember that former president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet was also president. There's no doubt about, in years we will continue to see more important roles assumed by women. This society movement did not started today with Chinchilla's president election, is just a reminder of how women are becoming each day more important in society, more that they already are.
