Will it work?

The new law in Arizona (SB1070) gives the right to police officers to arrest and interrogate any person that can create suspicion of being an illegal immigrant. All this created a completely different view of the state of Arizona. All people sees them as racists. This issue came to my ming and I thought it was something interesting to be analyze.

I personally think that this law may be reasonable up to certain point; it is excesive that police officers have the right to arrest any person when they feel like it. But also, I think that Arizona needs this kind of laws. Every year thousands of people cross the border in a illegal way; this people avoid taxes and they consume and use the state facilities.

Maybe Arizona will have some positive results, at least less imigrants will enter to the state in illegal ways. But this will create more negative results than positive. One example is that Arizona will have a massive reduction in their tourism incomes, because many Mexican people have their vacations over there, and as a result of this law; they see Arizona as racist and over the edge.
So the question is: Will this law work for Arizona?

Global Warming Actions

Our partial video it's about the topic global warming focused on the United States of America. So we investigated to make our first video and we ended reading to articles that talked about this topic. We found two interesting articles; one of them was called “Leaving a Good legacy”. This article talked about senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry who introduced the American Power act. These laws have a number of elements that try to lead business and environmental groups to a cleaner energy-path. Both senators will focus their career on creating more jobs and to find alternative fossil fuels.

Both articles said that global warming is a very big problem that nobody seems to care about. We are not seeing the big picture here; most of all think that this is just a problem that will make the world a hotter, and maybe some icebergs will melt, but at the end we say: "Come on!, world can't die." And it is true, world will not die, but life on it will. That is what we are not seeing, human race will be extinguished, and so all kind of life on this planet, and it is our entire fault. It is time for us to change, start making the right decisions.

We must insist against organized crime but with smart strategies – Beltrones

The coordinator of PRI in the senate has affirm that the lost of hundreds of innocent citizens must not be only take account in speeches , but also in performing intelligent attack against the organized crime , and the adoption of new actions.
Despite all the loses that had being occurred in Mexico because of the war against the organized crime , the Coordinator of PRI in the senate ask not to take a step back in its fight being waged by the Mexican state.
In interviews being made to Beltrones he says that despite lamenting the loses of citizens we must propose and make new actions to win this battle against the narcotrafics and the organized crime . He says also that the government should apply more intelligent strategies instead of battle with the enemy face to face for not putting in danger the lives of innocents peoples .
He says that he is convinces to continue with this battle , we should not step back until we win the security and welfare of our citizens declare beltrones.

The Debate – Opinion and Experience

Last week we had a debate in the Congress Room with some of our classmates that were participating in different types of subjects. That day I had lots of things to do, so I decided to take a break in order to watch my friends debating with other teenagers. I remember that when I was talking to them before the event, they were like presenting a nervous crisis. Talking about reality they weren’t like that, but yes they were really stress and with anxiety of how does their opponent will react to their questions and opinions.

The hours passed and they were ready to say their speeches. It was already 11 o’clock and the first one that I saw was Fernando. He was nervous but very sure of what he was going to say in front of the judges and public. I remember that when I was sitting down on the front part of the audience I saw the judges to my left side and a traffic light on my right side. These lights were the ones in charge of telling the participants the time they have in order to finish with their speeches or answers.

Then the second person that I saw was Krista; she was very nervous, but I notice that she had some little pieces of paper in her hands in order to remember some of her words. When she was discussing with her partner he was always like trying to shout at her or make opinions that will make her feel uncomfortable. Krista was telling her opinions and the boy was like only just waiting for the response in order to attack her.

Finally I saw my last friend that was Paulina. She was always very sure of what she was saying. Her partner was also very hard but she defined and explained her point of view in a perfect way. After that they made their conclusions and some of the principals gave diplomas to the participants. They also announced the 3 places that won. The third place was Fernando ( I was very happy that a classmate could win the 3^rd place). Then the second place was a boy of 6^th semester and finally the 1^st place was Marcos from 6th semester also. (He gave very good arguments and a lot of statistics about the topic).

Now talking about my opinions in the debate I will like to focus in only one topic. I love the topic of the technologic urns. I think that it has a lot of positive but also negative aspects. For example some of the positive aspects that I notice were that this new machinery will help to improve our ecological culture that is being fomented during all this years. Also that we are going to have more chances to vote for the handicapped people. And even though Mexico isn’t very advance in technology and all that things we have to open and accept new changes every time we can in order to look for benefits and services to community.

Definitively I will say that I’m in favor with the technological urn. Why? Because I love change and the concept that Mexico will develop and improve even more, it’s an excellent opportunity to jump one step more.

What About Sports?

What is it with sports? Why is there so much excitement for this special games taken place in a certain area? There is something about sports that makes them very important. To many people, they are just silly games that have no importance what so ever on the way we live or the problems society faces; as a matter of fact, sports have a lot to do with some of the problems in our society. Sports have a lot of negative and positive factors that I'am going to write about. For example, did you ever notice that sports can unify many people in one place and make them shout the same word and hug each other in victory, but as a downside the loser team and fans may take very personally and end with violence. People may lose the true importance of this called "games". Sports are about passion, glory, grace, competitiveness, and most of all respect. It's is not about showing how much you can "rock" at it, is about who well yo handle it. Of course we all like to celebrate for the good things, there is nothing bad with it, but is important to do it with respect.

I think that is what sports are about. They were created for a better purpose than violence and agression, we as sports fans must act responsible and respectful. We must just enjoy the game. Isn't that what is all about?

Corruption does not stop

There is no doubt that in many countries there is corruption. The concept of corruption consists in the taking of money it is not form their own work. Politicians usually ask for certain amount of money to the government to make infrastructure, but most of time they use a little part of that amount and the rest is “of them”, this actions obviously affect the standard of life of many people that expects more from their government.
I think that in Mexico is one of the countries with a democratic system that presents almost always a corrupted system. People in the streets have lost confidence to the people on power, and I am one of them. Even if we vote for the “less worse” candidate, we will end up dealing with some corrupt guy.

This is a situation that should concern to all of us because corruption makes honest people lose jobs and make our country a worst place. In Mexico, there have been many shame stories like “Juanito’s” one, a politician that was supposed to quit after winning an election to give his power to other person, it was a false candidate. Come on! In what other country you will se that? Probably none, only in a country where corruption has become more normal each day, something that should worry more than one person.

Classes in school

This blog post is about all the classes that are given in school, which all students wonder if they are really going to have anything to do with their future lives. As I was wondering if they are really going to have any kind of importance in my later life I realized that they did. What sometimes can make the difference between making those classes interesant or not is: who are giving the classes and the activities that are applied in class. Students have an stricted period of time in which they have to be in school, and for that not to be boring, teacher have to make classes interesting; that is why teaching is a profession.

Many students make the big mistake thinking that studying and learning sucks and it is boring, we don't the see the big picture here learning can be interesting and besides that, very important. I'm not saying that the most important learning is what comes from school, but it will determine an important call in your life.

All kinds of learnings are important, that was my conclusion. Do not reject any kind of lesson you can learn, we have to appreciate what comes from the outside and take advantage of it. We must always remember lessons are not given to us to make us suffer, they are given to us to make us better.

Who writes history?

I think this is an important question. We have had history class in school since y know. Teacher tell us to buy a book which we are going to read during the year or semester in class. Even tough we don't really know anything about its author and its content, we believe their stories are true. I bet most of all haven't stop to think if what they are teaching us is really the true story. I once had this teacher who told us that history is written by those who win. I really believe his theory. I think it depends on whether the country who wrote it, won or lose a battle which the book is talking about. I think history deforms through time, people sometimes starts adding things to the story, for diferrent purposes, it may be to hide something or to make something better. So I think that from now on everytime we read or teach us something in class we stop to think and analyze that information. We must not believe everything they tell us.

What is going on?

What is going on in the world? We turn on the television and we see all kinds of disasters through all the entire world. We see earthquakes here and there. Is there any possiblities that the world is coming to its end? As we all know there are many predictions that the world as we know it will end in the year 2012. Maybe this is quite impossible, but all the disasters we are facing point to a soon apocalipse. We have many kinds of problems going on right now; we have the great deal with pollution,scarcity, global warming,crisis, end of petroleum, earthquakes, tsunamis and floodings going on till I don't know when. I'm scared, I used to think "It not going to happen to me", or "It is not happening in my lifetime", but know I'm thinking it is most possible that I'm going to live to see it. Our time to do something passed a long time ago, maybe it is just too late, we should be mad, and worried about all this.

POVERTY

I will love to share with you how does the word Poverty is one of the most common during this and the past decades. My question is; Why are we living such a poverty, if we are getting more technology and machinery, why can't we make our standar of life higher that the actual .

Don't you imagine that lots of people right now they are standing out there in the wind, in the sand or in the floor of cement really cold. They are sleeping on the street using newspapers to protect form the weather; how many people is living in carton houses; how many people is having their babies without medical services, how may people is wishing to eat only a piecer of bread. Well, I can continue all day long telling what does poor people do in order to survive, but this is not my point during this post. So, let me better tell you about what are the causes of poverty.

1) Almost half of the world population live on less than $2.50 per day.

2) The GDP of 41 heavily Indebted poor countries is less than the wealth of the world's 7 richest people.

3) Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.

4) Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.

5) 1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).

THE HUGE JOB

BE CAREFUL!

The huge job, well in this post I'm referring to the Corruption system that almost all of our countries have. This system of corruption consists in the taking of money it is not form their own work. They are taking that money sometimes by making like works with other persons, narcotraffic, and so many things that create a great imapct and affect a lot the economy and standard of living in our countries.

I'll like to specify my post in Mexico that is one of the countries with a Democratic government that presents almost always a corrupted system. What does people is thinking by doing this? is the question that I I'm always asking me. Why? Well, I realize that people make this not because they need the money, but sometimes they are forced to do such "obligations".

I'm really scared about all this because Mexico is increasing evertime more; we are having not only corruption, but we are also getting all this kinds of violence (violation, drugs, suicide, deads, killes, thieves, etc...) Our country is presenting such problems that make us appear as a poor country in respect and lack of order, but yes they said that we are rich in humilious persons.

All this problem "CORRUPTION", creates great impacts that we can't even imagine what does this simple act make such things. For example our country is suffering of diseases and of poorness, but no, the government can't do anything because they don't have enough money. And tell me why does the main political figures have as much money as they can and they said that they don't have enough money to pay or to help a bunch of friends that are sufferin of hunger or cold.

“United until Dead”

Have you ever heard a song named: “We are the World”; well I will like to talk about his because I love to sing and the purpose right here is to see how all this beautiful voices join only to sing this wonderful melody. We can say that it is only a song, but I want to make a little emphasis right here were the song is dedicated to the children and adults that are suffering and living that tremendous tragedy. Haiti is the name of the city that is living all this consequences (in the last piece of the song we can hear that a singer says: Haiti, Haiti, Haiti…. I love it).

We can see that a few years later we had Michael Jackson’s version were he sang also with lots of famous singers completely incomparable with the actual ones (they had voices that can’t be consider as the ones in the actual artistic world).

Now, what I really wanted to tell you is the impact that this song create in society. As my point of view the most important thing was that people and society can appreciate all this voices and the union that they are presenting because we had rappers, romantics, rockers, etc.. So, that way we can see that even though we are different in character, characteristics and culture; we are always united until dead(like the phrase I wrote in the beginning of the text); we are always united in this type of tragedies and cases that impact our economy, society and also it is something that touches our heart. We are making things to save does people and try to help them in the basic needs they have (food, water, etc…).

The New Group "Greenology"

“We are making the Change”

Greenology is a New Society in Tec de Monterrey. It is a society born in 2010 in Hermosillo, Sonora with the objective to make an ecological school and then world. To start I’ll like to tell you what type of roles does this society has. For instance, for president we have Lillián Coronado and like 6 other people in the major table. All this people as well as the president is in charge of start creating new alternatives and also new techniques for the ecological aspect in school.

I talked to them last week because I’m part of the major table; and we have many different proposals but we can’t make them from one day to another. As first alternative we were going to make new trashcans, one of plastics, then for inorganic and organic. But even though we made them people doesn’t have that type of culture yet. For instance we don’t even know if the recycling paper is really being recollected by recyclers and also exchange that trash to create a positive result.

Start thinking about bigger problems at the beginning of all this process is that we have to create new publicity and new expectatives of the group. This is the only ecological society in Tec, so we have to consider the next aspects that we gave to complement in this society.

For instance:

1) A) We need a plan to create a new perspective of ecology and try to change people’s mind so they can start working with all the wastes that they delivered.

2) B) Greenology has to invite new people to practice in this movement and in this campaign that constantly we are having.

3) c) At the beginning Greenology had planned to make the “The Papeleton” and the creation of new trashcans so people can start reading and making a culture. ( So when we grow up, we can see that the world is different and that we need the help of all the society).

No Scarcity

A few classes ago, the topic of a world with no scarcity were brought up during class. I started to imagine what our world would be if all kinds of resources where infinite. If economics tries to distribute all resources because of scarcity, if there is no scarcity what would economics be about?
Maybe in a very lucky situation our society would reach a perfect level of society. If there is no scarcity, everyone would be available to get every kind of service; money should be well distributed. I just wonder what rich and greed people would do, if everything precious that they have, is now available to all kinds of people.
For the worst of chances, I think scarcity could bring Anarchy to society, because there would be no control, and they idea of power could get in the mind of every one because now they have the same chances that everyone has.
I really don’t know what would happen, but I think it is a good idea to be prepared for this kind of situation. Starting with our values and principles, so if one day scarcity is really over, people will not try to kill each other.

Northern Hermosillo stinks

A couple of days ago we all habitants of Hermosillo were warned that for 2 days we would have no water in our houses. So everyone started to prepare for this shortage, so they began filling their “tinacos” and “cisternas” so people wouldn’t run out of water. So it got me thinking: “Why the hell does this happens?” and I wonder if it’s because we are really running out of water or there is another reason to this. I remember last year, we had the same problem, through this time of the year, and there was one the day that there was no water, and all of a sudden the governor solve the problem. So finally I came to the conclusion that all of this may be a publicity stunt for the government or just some kind of arrangement with the “tinacos “ and “cisternas” sellers; because, if you pay close attention, you realize that those kind of sellers won a lot last year so they did this year selling their product. So I’m still thinking of that issue, and I think that it is kind of both a publicity stunt and a arrangement between seller and government.

Avatar movie

A couple of weeks ago I saw this movie, called “Avatar”, I’m pretty sure everyone knows about it. It created a big deal in marketing , because the movie was directed by the same guy that directed “Titanic”; personally I didn’t like Avatar that much. But, I’m not writing to critic the movie; what this post is about the bottom message of this movie. I understood that the movie is trying to put you in the shoes of those people whom are native to a certain place and all of a sudden someone stronger is trying to take what they love away. Like always, predators of society are always looking for resources, raw materials; and because of their greediness they don’t care what they crush if they get what they want.
In Avatar we got this beautiful land called “Pandora” which contains a material that results to be very expensive and gives some kind of energy or something, I really don’t remember about it, but that is the general deal. So humans, (the villains) are trying to get it, and at the end, everything results in war, in which the natives result winning.
So, I think it’s really cool that they are trying to give this kind of message using really cool graphics and special effects, so ALL OF US really understand the message, and start to change our crazy ways.

The google community

The Google community

Recently I saw a video that really caught my attention; it’s thematic was: Google community. It referred to the enterprise of Google, properly where the workers and engineers are located. The video divided in three, and they show how comfortably the workers are. They have free food, they can wear whatever they want to go to work, not very strict rules and working hours; overall it seemed as the perfect work. All this got me thinking, isn’t this the idea of a perfect society, maybe Google is trying to send us this message. “It is possible to have a perfect society”.

People like their jobs, and going to them. All the liberty they have, allow them to think more widely and creatively. I think all works, even society should be that way; it would allow people to be more peaceful and less stressed. But, I don’t know if it could have its downside also. Like we all know, there are very bad people in this world, who just want everything to burn. }

Nuclear power: Weapon or energy source?

Our need to find new sources of energy is becoming greater every day. Electricity is a basic need in our lives, without it everyday life literaly stops. Fossil fuels are other of our energy sources, they are burned to get heat, the oldest type of energy source. These to sources of energy have become obsolete, they contaminate too much. At their shor term use we could use them with no problems or side effects, but now the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have become too great. We are urged to get new ways of getting our energy, ways that do not pollute as much and ways that are also safe for us humans.

Nuclear energy is a very efficient type of energy. It could really be the solution to our problems. It is not cheap, but with a single atom we can produce a lot of energy. Atomic energy, as it is sometimes called, has to be produced in special plants that are filled with different security measures because the radiation that escapes from this enourmous amounts of energy is very high too. So there are also some down sides to nuclear energy, as to everything. We have to become a more efficient species but that is not without is losses. To save our planet from contamination we will have to sacrifice some of our species, we will have to risk human lives.

The disasters occured in Nagasaki and Hiroshima prove how strong nuclear energy is but how dangerous as well. To be able to control this type of power we have to be very responsible as to who gets to manage this type of technology. As an energy source it is permitted but as a weapon it should be shameful to even think about using. The effects nuclear energy has as a weapon are very painful, not only as a bomb but also all the side effects it has. Nuclear energy can become our next energy source but we must be careful as to who gets to manage it and how it is managed.

Religion

Religion, a term that is very known by society. The question that most people ask is "should I trust religion". History have teach only not to. Through the pass of time, people have used religion just to gain power. Take for instance the Inquisition. This period of time, church killed people if they did not agreed or did what the bible said, this way people would be afraid and do everything that the church wanted.

I have learned series of stories like this, through my different classes. Sometimes I wonder if our religion might past away and be consider something mythological; the same happened to the greeks and we see their religion as something completely impossible. A couple a months ago I watch a movie that talked about religion between other things. The movie was called "Zeitgeist". This movie said something very true. Religion, or actually the bible is the repetion of the same story through time and Jesus Christ and his story was based, as many other, on the sun and the constellations. Here's the explanation:

So all this made me realize and come to the conclusion that maybe church is wrong or have made many mistakes, but at the end of all religion has a good intention, to make society behave better.
So the moral lesson of all these is: Make your own JUDGEMENTS, don't believe what someone tells you, belive what you want to believe and stick to it.

HIV, Sida

Human immunodeficiency virus known as SIDA is a virus caused by AIDS. HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Also, AIDS killed more than 25 million of people. And more than more than 570,000 were children. The cure for the VHI is unknown but the treatment with anti-retroviral increases the life expectancy of people infected with HIV.

I think is very important to know this kind of problems and how close they are to us. People may think that these problems are far away form them and my never happen to them, but is because of that cause that this problem (HIV) are very present today. Society has to become more aware of the fact that this sickness is present in our daily lives.
