Shame

Recently, PAN cancelled the rights as delegate of Víctor González Ortega, since he was found drunk and with drugs and a gun. But, the thing is that he is not just a simple delegate, he is the president of Congreso del Estado de Baja California.
What makes this striking is that the municipal police recorded his detention, and the tape clearly shows he is totally drunk, with cocaine and a gun, and... DRIVING THE OFFICIAL VEHICLE OF PODER LEGISLATIVO!
The video is funny; it shows this guy babbling and staggering. But then, a policeman tells González Ortega he is in trouble because of the drug. And tells him, 'Imagine the newspaper tomorrow, especially the yellow press, could you imagine the title of the news? PAN Delegate is found drunk and with cocaine in official vehicle, ah no no wait, President of Congreso is found drunk?' And González Ortega says he is right and he is all f***** up because of the drug.
Víctor González Ortega was checked up after this; the police checked his house and tested him, but they found 'nothing'and he was set free. Weeks later when the video was shown in the news of most states,he just denied it. But, we know what we saw, so he admitted he had drunk some beer because it was Sunday, after a cabalgata and asked media to stop it because they were damaging his family, his party and himself. Oh please! Months before, he was also punished because cans with alcohol and vomit, and used condoms were found in his office, so I do not think media must stop 'damaging his image'. He deserves it, and also PAN. Why all the evidence just disappeared? Why he did not go to jail? Why the police did not go further? Obviously PAN asked for it. Its image as a 'serious political institution'was being degraded, so they disappeared all the drug and the gun, sent González Ortega home, took over the anti-doping tests and the policeman who recorded it.
It is unfair, PAN is demonstrating that it is a double-standard institution that only looks after its own interests.

Feeling superior by making others inferior

“No one can make you feel inferior”- Eleanor Roosevelt
This is a quote that every people should keep in mind. In the world there are people who discriminate or treat bad other people just because they feel superior, and want to have a benefit. Every day this acts or violence increase and it affects our society.

Over two weeks ago, I heard that some people transported drugs to the United States and they make other people (called “mulas”) eat capsules of drugs, and when they arrive make the people release them. I think that this act is really bad and inhuman. Nobody should take advantage of other people because they can hurt them. With this example, first they are doing something bad by making him or her eat it, because it affects the organism, then they are cheating the police, and then when they make the people release them, they also give other substance (which again affects the organism). If they want to transport it like this, why don’t they do it to themselves? Are they being so “generous” by letting other people have this taste? Obviously not! They don’t want to hurt themselves.

Another act that is very common, and now in every city or town or even at schools is presented is: stealing. Why do people do this? Sometimes they don’t need it, but they just do it to hurt others. My question is, do they increase their self-steam by doing this? Maybe they feel powerful... Still, I think that there is no excuse for this act. I think that everyone should respect themselves and obviously others, so you should treat them well. We are all humans, and all of us have feelings!

Should Drugs Be Legalized?

A very discussed issue during the last years has been drug legalization.

First of all, by drug legalization it is understood the removing of the legal prohibitionf of the cultivation, manufature, distribution, and sale of illegal drugs. Some exmaples of these drugs are marijuana, cocaine, crack, ectasy, and others.

But, What are the reasons why people think legalizing drugs is a good option?

Well, one reason that I have heard around is that drugs should be legalized because taking drugs is an individual choice.

Because man has the right to do what it fits to him, as long as they do not harm anyone else. If a person chooses to put a drug inside his body, he has the right to take that decision, and the government has no right to interfere with that decision. All this is truth; however, can you walk around naked without affecting others? The answer to this question is NO because it is stipulated that we do not have the right to do anything we want with our body.

We are humans, we take decisions every day, and it is stipulated that our decisions should not affect other people. If a person decides to take drugs, he is not only affecting himself, but also affecting others. For example, a drug is a substance that may have effects at the moment or years after. If John took illegal drugs for three years, but then he decided to stop taking them. Three years after, John is a bus driver, and while he was driving a bus, he experienced a flashback, and that cause a crash in which most of the bus passengers died. Aren't the passengers being affected by John decision of taking drugs?

Another reason I have heard of why should drugs be legalized is " People love to do forbidden things". Well, this phrase is true: When someone tells us we should not do something, or look for something, or take something, those things are the ones we want to do. This is why many people say that if drugs are legalized, people would not feel a big wanting of the drug. Even though I agree with the phrase, I started to think: If all the forbidden things would be legalized, how would the world end? If killing would be permitted, who would stay alive? If corruption would be accepted, how would society end? I will leave these questions for you to answer yourself.

The other reason I have heard around is that drugs should be legalized because it would mean less government. People think that if drugs are legal, drug-traffickers would stop their war, and government would not be involved in drug regulation anymore. However, I consider this TOTALLY false. The legalization of drugs would allow government the right to increase the taxes in them.

Well, these are just some of the reasons why people think drugs should be legalized, but I think that if we are suffering nowadays, with the legalization of all drugs we would be suffering even worst!!

Drug Addiction Impact on Society

Acorrding to NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse), drugs and alcohol has an impact of $67 billion per year. This includes costs related to crimes and incarceration, drug addiction treatment, medical costs from overdoses and drug related injuries and complications, time lost from work and social welfare programs. Because drug addiction and alcoholism are diseases of the brain, which is the center of judgment and behavioral patterns, drug addicts and alcoholics have a disturbingly high propensity to commit unlawful and immoral acts to obtain these substances because of the feeleing of power, indestructability which leads to aggressive and impulsive behavior.

Drug Addiction is on of the fastes ways to spread AIDS, by the sharing of needles and using drugs may lead a person to make bad decisions and participate in sexual activities with an infected individual. According to NIDA, drug addictions is now the single largest factor in the spread of HIV in the U.S.

Although there are millions of organizations and programs to prevent drug abuse and thousands of pages about this topic, it doesn't compare anything to the feeling of devastation and hopelessness felt by drug addicts and their families. The emotion of failure, anger, depression, confusion, and hundred more emotions can't be described in stadistics.

With special programs, treatment centers, rehabilitation, and most important, INFORMATION, we can do all we can to educate people about addictions and their consequences, not just physical consequences, also including social consequences. Until you go through it or watch a loved one going throught it, there is no other way to feel the true effects of Drug Addiction.

Mexico's legalization of drugs

The bill, proposed by conservative President Felipe Calderon, would make it legal to carry up to 5 grams (0.18 ounces) of marijuana, 500 milligrams (0.018 ounces) of cocaine and tiny quantities of other drugs such as heroin and methamphetamines.Mexico's Congress passed a similar proposal in 2006 but the bill was vetoed by Calderon's predecessor Vicente Fox, under pressure from the United States, which said it would increase drug abuse, but now is worried by the drug-related violence along its border.

Mexico has a lot of drug dealer’s problems, almost all the days there are at least 2 people killed because of this problem. This problem is since long time ago a very controversial subject on Mexico, but now the problems have been more and more intense. So now they are deciding to legalize them in a certain form that they are not very harmful for the people that consume them. I think that is a very good idea so the violence because of drugs stops.

Legalize Marijuana

A former Mexican foreign minister said that Mexico and the United States shouls both legalize marijuana. He said it is ridiculous to try to stop marijuana entering to tha U.S. because it is sold in California for medical purposes. The DEA mentioned that 60% of Mexican drug cartel's profit came from marijuana, so if it is legalized it would be a great part of the problem. This man, Jorge Castañeda, criticize Calderon for declaring war to the drug cartels, a war that have costed more than 17000 lives en less than 4 years.

This is a very discussed problem all around the world, but the question is "¿What should we do?" There are debates, forums, discussions, etc. about his topic but nobody knows which is the best answer. If we legalize drugs, there is a possibility that more people consume it. But if we stay like this, we have drug cartels and money wash. We should do something to this, starting by helping drug addicts and having more vigilance over kids and out of schools.
