The Extreme Situation we are living Today!

We are living in an extreme situation now at days; we are recently having incidents that are killing a lot of human population because of only one reason that provokes all this that is: POVERTY!

When we are talking about populations we can name then in two ways: a developed population or an industrialized nation. I’m going to talk you about the developed population. This kind of nation is developed, organized and has a great and strong economy but the thing right here is that a significant percentage (almost the majority) of the population is struggling to survive.

Now I’m going to describe some statistics that experts made in order to get an estimation of the people that is presenting this situation. At a poverty line of $1.25 per day, the revised estimates find:

a) a) 1.4 billion of people living in the poverty line or below

b) b) This is more than the previous estimate this means that the economy raises but only for the people in the middle-upper class and the upper class.

Poverty is advancing even more every time. All this big problem is originating other problems for the population that don't have the enough money to buy even a piece of bread. We are in danger, many people is presenting diseases that are spreading, many people is dying because of starvation or infections. Our world is developing, YES, but we are leaving apart our natural resources, the damaged people. Now at days we can see that the world is having extreme disasters because of the global warming and all the contamination we are producing. And it seems as if disasters are touching the poorest countries of the world. We need to change our way of governing and managing our economy because only a few of people is getting the benefits but the rest of the population is starving and dying on the streets. We create this, but we are destroying our world.

Global Culture

Well, it's interesting asking if there could be a global culture…

And my answer will be a NO... And you’ll see why

So, as we remember... Culture includes a way of life, beliefs, styles, values, symbols and it varies according to places, so therefore we can only speak of cultures, not only of one, but of many around the world. The idea of a global culture is impossible, even to distinguish people from other species, the differences between segments of humanity in terms of lifestyle and beliefs repertory are too big, and the common elements too generalized, to led us even consider of a global culture. It would be impossible to integrate all cultures into one, there is a great variety of traditions and customs that they would not give up what they have, what they have learned raised and lived in order to unite us all. To conceive a global culture, necessarily smaller cultures will be absorbed by larger ones and integrated into it, producing a world state with cultural homogeneity and integration.

But also, having differences isn’t bad, plurality and diversity of ideas is what makes people and this world so incredible, it could even be bored if we had all the same culture. Cultural diversity is what makes our planet rich, the variety of human societies or cultures in a specific region, or in the world as a whole. The term is also sometimes used to refer to multiculturalism. But still we can talk about globalization of cultures, which I think is different.

"Global Culture Is Here"

I read Naiomi's post about Global Culture, and i found the topic interesting; while I agree with her up to certain point, I think global culture does exists in a certain way. We all identify ourselves as human, we share the same worries (like global warming and oil scarcity), we all have the same basic needs, we all look for our ways to make our life easier (and those solutions reach almost everywhere thanks to globalization), etc.

It is as the recognized psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa says: human nature an behavior isn't infinitely malleable, there are several points of global agreement.

I know culture is much more that what I mentioned above; it includes languages, traditions, values, etc. just as Naiomi mentioned, and for the study of economics and politics we cannot take this approach, but it might be interesting that if we look at it in a more general way, we may find that global culture exists as human culture.

This page could explain with more details what this post is about.

Does global culture exist?

Culture is a term that has different meanings, but we know that culture is the basis of human society.

Culture is integrated by knowledge, beliefs, behavior, traditions, values, among other things.

In each human society there is a culture. So does global culture exist?

I don’t think that global culture exists. In every part of the world there are different traditions, or costumes. Even though a city could be just a few kilometers away from us, everything can change like the language, some beliefs, food, etc. There are a lot of elements that make a culture and each element changes. For example, in each country and also in every state there is a different flag that represents them and this is part of culture. Culture changes! Another example is the accent and language. The accent changes in every state even though it stills being Spanish, but in another countries there is a different language and inside this countries there are different accents too. That’s what I first understand from “global culture”. But in an web page it says that global culture is how you are able to experience your own culture in a foreign community.

This refers that how you can learn form different cultures and lifestyle. How when you meet a person from another country exchange valuable information of lifestyles and being able to adapt to it.

AIDS: What can we do to solve this problem?

As we know, AIDS is a sexual transmitted disease that concerns everyone worldwide since it kills millions of people every year. Currently, many scientists are looking for a cure, and ways to extend and improve the life of people with AIDS, but we as society can also help.

First of all, we must be conscious and know the topic well. If more people know about this issue, they can teach the ones who does not know, and when they know they can teach others and so on. Also, we must keep in mind the do's and the dont's, such as having ONLY ONE sexual partner, use condom, making tests before having children, do not sharing needles, respecting people with AIDS, among others.

Politics can help as well, improving education may be the best way to prevent AIDS. Making education available for everyone, especially poor people who are far away from cities, is also a way to help since these people are usually the most affected by AIDS.

There are many ways to help with global problems, we all can do something to help this world to be better place.
