Overpopulation and resources

The capacity for the human in the ecosystem has been exceeded. According to the logic of Overshoot by William Catton: the amount of stored energy from the sun (including fossil fuels) humans use is the equivalent of ten earths' intake of usable solar energy for photosynthesis.

With all the trash and all that stuff that we throw a lot of tons of topsoil is lost, the survival rate would be only one tenth of the one tenth!! And petroleum is one of the most important resources that would mark in history.

Population has been growing a lot even though all these damages and the lack of resources.

People are dependant on resources, and we need them to live. Overpopulation is causing that all these resources disappeared. In petroleum for example, agriculture will be affected.

I think that overpopulation and resources is a theme that is very important nowadays. Resources are not for ever! We need to take care of them, because population is growing and growing. Also I think that we need to find more alternatives that can help s when all resources come to an end.

Living in an almost perfect world

How would the world be like if all of us could get everything we want to have?

I consider that there would be positive and negative aspects.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that there would be no more inequality; there would be no poverty, and that is a VERY VERY positive aspect, because as we saw in class, a lot of countries have tried to end with this problem, and they haven't succeeded. In a very general way, I can imagine this world almost perfect; I imagine all the children that are living in extreme poverty living in a lovely world, where they can be feeded, where they can be free of being working to get more money and where they could live in a happy way.

There would be lots of water, there would be no more endangered species and we all would be able to get what we have always wanted..... But in the other side, according to the way we behave, how would it be?

I am aware that while we have enough things to live, we don't care about none of those things, so I also can imagine our world as a place where we will be wasting everything; having no conscience of our acts, because it won't matter for us .. there would be enough things for everybody.

It would be like getting everything without making any effort, and actually I consider that when we try hard to get something is when we really appreciate it. Nature is wise, so there would be a reason why resources are not endless.

Lack of Water in Hermosillo

A Big Problem in Hermosillo: Water...

One of the latest classes of the first partial, we talked about the global issues and we listed many of them. One of them, was the lack of natural resources. I want to talk about them because is something that is affecting our city. The only difference is that the resource is water.
As we know we live in a desert region, so water tends to be scarce.

Currently, the government is searching for a solution and I hope that they find the best one, that benefits all its citizens. The point is that this lack of water at Hermosillo is a global Issue, but also involves Economics; because it is related to how the government will distribute the Service.

I chose to write about this, because it is a global issue very common and talked among Hermosillo Citizens, and it is a matter that involves all its people. This is one part of the issue, the political and social effects. But also it involves the Economics' science so it is really interesting to comment this events. We are noticed of what is happening in terms of resources in the city, and in terms, of the politics/governments decisions.
I would like to say that we all have to raise our voice, and propose or ask about the solutions. It is a matter that includes political, economical and social decisions; that later will have consequences in our lives, either good or bad.
