The Internet Revolution

This news report had caught my attention because it's new topic that I would like to talk about. As time goes by, technology had evolved to become part of our daily private lives. We should consider that this is a new type of "revolution" that will change how we interact in the world completely, including some aspects of our government. I'm talking about the impact of the Internet of course. We can't live an hour without it, we are much attached to it. Some people feel like an "addiction" to the internet by pages like Facebook, Twitter, etc. A friend told me they are even some groups to leave the addiction, something like Alcoholics Anonymous. Leaving the personal effect on us aside, the Internet not only affects how we as humans communicate and "stay in touch" but also, some experts says it will affect whole industries, even the government. We have seen this type of issues before with the Internet. I remember we discuss in class about how the freedom of speech is being violated by governments like China by banning the site of Google and YouTube. They are forgetting the main ideas of great thinkers who fought to defend their beliefs, and now we are taking steps back. I know that China is kind of a mixed country that is moving with big steps in the economic area but is decreasing in the political area. According to the article, the internet revolution will be very slow but painful. This means that industries will reborn from their ashes to adapt to the new challenging world. The government can take advantage of this tool in a positive or negative way. The positive way is that the people will be more informed on what's going around them to have a better judgment and make right decisions. It can also be a place where online cooperation is held and the people's opinion is heard well. Of course, everything has a positive and a negative side. The article says that some people think that this tool in the wrong hands can be a dangerous tracker of persons. With all that is going on, people uploading photos and personal information, this can also affect us. The Internet will change the world undoubtedly, but is up to us what we share and what we don't. This tool can be very useful to us if we want to, we just need to be careful and don't just go with the flow that every site is safe. It has already started, so adapting is the solution to it.

Google WORLD!!!

What do you think about when you hear GOOGLE?, well before my last class of Plan de Vida y Carrera I could only think of it as a very famous Searcher(buscador). In fact, I had never thought before of Google as a very successful company.

In class we saw a couple of videos that show us how Googl

e works and I have to admit that I was really surprised and absolutely amazed with what I learned. It turns out that Google gets all its money from selling space and time for advertisements. I couldn’t believe how much money they got. The company is very careful with its publicity, they don’t want their pages so look overloaded or full of ads, that’s why when you go their pages you don’t find tons of publicity that over crowds your main page and distracts you cause after all that’s from where they get all the money.

All the people that works in Google are super smart, but being smart isn’t enough for Google, their employees should also have several interest like hobbies and be super creative; All this is because they are in a constant change.

l, therefore the company does everything at its reach to keep its employees happy, relaxed, and comfortable. If you work for Google you have the best installations you could wish for while you work. There’s like 3 restaurants that offer different types all food, from veggie to Chinese; near your office there are several refrigerators filled with tons of products.

In the relaxation part they have basketball courts, gym, yoga, pilates and dance classes. There are huge green areas were you can have a walk, ride a bicycle or take scooters.

The best part is that all these services are completely FREE!!!.

Google workers don’t have specific schedules, they have super flexible schedules. They also do not use uniforms nor have a dress code. That way you feel comfortable with what you go to work and you are able to give a 120% of your dedication to complete your tasks with excellence.

In my opinion this is a complete company cause they focus in technology, the human resources and the efficiency. Google also thinks green and does everything at its reach to reduce contamination.

Inspiration: Google it!

Last Thursday, in the class of “Plan de Vida y Carrera”, we saw a video of how a Google company works. I found very interesting and relevant because it explained how Google make their employees feel comfortable and inspired.

First of all, I want to make clear that Google is a company that is compromised with the world and with sustainable development. In order to transport employees, the company has buses that take the workers from the company to their homes and vice versa. They also have bicycles that can be used by anyone who works at Google.

The company has little gardens to promote plant care in his workers.

Google does everything to make their employees feel inspired enough to create amazing things. Some of those things are: having available food for the (at any time, any place, and any kind); letting them wear whatever they want and however they feel at ease; allowing employees to bring their pets (except cats); allowing them to decorate their office as crazy as they can, so they feel happy. Google also provides flextime and they can even work at home if they cannot go to the office.

We all know that Google is one of the most amazing and successful companies in the world. It’s no coincidence that the employees work that good only because they are excellent engineers or because they are geniuses, it’s because Google provides them all the tools to be that.

I truly believe that Google is doing a great job by being such an incredible company. It’s generating money, it has compromise with society and nature, it satisfies the needs of many of us (YouTube, blogger, Gmail, etc.) and it is one of the best companies ever.

Recently I saw a video that really caught my attention; it’s thematic was: Google community. It referred to the enterprise of Google, properly where the workers and engineers are located. The video divided in three, and they show how comfortably the workers are. They have free food, they can wear whatever they want to go to work, not very strict rules and working hours; overall it seemed as the perfect work. All this got me thinking, isn’t this the idea of a perfect society, maybe Google is trying to send us this message. “It is possible to have a perfect society”.

People like their jobs, and going to them. All the liberty they have, allow them to think more widely and creatively. I think all works, even society should be that way; it would allow people to be more peaceful and less stressed. But, I don’t know if it could have its downside also. Like we all know, there are very bad people in this world, who just want everything to burn. }

Working at Google

During the last "Plan de Vida y Carrera" class we watched a couple of videos about the working enviromment in the Google campus in California.

I have to admit, it surprised me the working enviromment they have. It looks like a really nice place to work. I mean, who wouldn't like to work in a place where you can eat for free? or, where you can take free bicycles and go around the campus? or, when you can enter to work at whatever time you want? It sure is attractive for everyone.

Google has now become a world-wide company. It has predominance in almost every country in the world and it looks like its image it's what matters the most to the company. And why wouldn't it be that way when you are one of the leaders of communication in the world? I'm pretty sure that Google has all these working methods because it wants to make everyone feel good about it. How would Google react if there was suddenly a bunch of people angry at it? It wouldn't be pleasent news I'd say, so it's good to make most people happy while it's possible.

I'm in no way critizing Google because of this working enviromment. In fact, I want to make emphasis on how important it is to have a good image to show and to make the rest of people happy and comfortable, a work that Google has proven to realize.

I'm pretty sure Google will still be a world leader for a long time because it cares about its weakest foundation. It's not a common company with the common employes or directors. It is more like a big community of people who come together to share ideas and to participate in the global issues. This is why I think Google can take the stand and allow its workers this type of enviromment; because it's sure that's the way of building itself from the very bottom.

The Secret Behind Google

Google is now one of the most powerful enterprises in the world based on the Internet search technologies that we all know and use every day. For some people, especially students, it has become a powerful and necessary weapon to know more information to do our homework. The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both from the Stanford University. The use of Google has become so popular not only because is free to use, but the usefulness of the page as it organizes the entire world's information in just one place. Almost 99% percent of the profits of Google come from its advertising programs. The search engine, which is the most popular among us, dominates the US market. I think that this enterprise is one of the most successful ones and that has impacted the society the most. If we don't know something, we just google it. Google even has a page for almost every country, like "Google Mexico". As we move to new technologies, such as the Internet, people become more in contact with information they want to know in just a few seconds. It's like opening the doors to the world. However, the freedom of information that travels in the search engine of Google has also been banned in some countries like China, where the government wants to control the information to avoid "dangerous actions" against them. Since there is another blog talking about this issue, I will focus more in what is behind the Google enterprise. When we were on class of Planeación de Vida y Carrera, they show us a video of how the Google business works. I was surprised to see the excellent treatment the employers received. Human capital is a crucial element in a business, so I think that a good treatment from the enterprise will have its benefits. People not only will be happier but the work they will do will have a greater quality. Their environment is amazing, since they offer all the services inside the building such as, transport (bikes), restaurants, free beverages, dress the way they want, etc. It would be cool to work there :)

I think that this type of freedom can help people work in such a better way, they will feel free and less stressed. They don't have an established schedule and they even give them time to dedicate it to own personal projects. This is very important to maintain in an entreprise since it can affect it in a positive or a negative way. Sometimes I entered to businesses where the employeers seem so unhappy that they don't motivate you to buy anything or at least with a sensation of not coming back. Humans are not machines, we also deserve a good environment to work on!

Prohibition of Web Pages

The teacher once told us that in some places around the world, such in China, Google, Youtube and other web pages were completely banned. Do you think that this is correct? Is this for a social benefit or not? Well.. in my point of view this abolition has advantages and disadvantages.

In the advantages we can include that future generations won’t be that lazy in looking for information and investigating. When we read books and make a good effort when doing our investigations, our intellectual level increases because we exercise our brain. We are so used to Google, that we make books and reading apart. When teachers leave us some homework, we use to seat in front of the computer, enter the Google web page, and type the investigation that was assigned to us. There will appear lots of options and we have only to choose the one we consider the best one. Isn’t it this a lazy habit?

In the other hand, we can fine same disadvantages also. Google and Youtube are not only used for doing homework assignments, they are also used for entertainment and personal learning. If this web pages are completely prohibited, we are losing a lot of easy and fast information that we can get to need some day, and instead of looking for a book and read through a lot of pages in order to find one answer, well is much more easier to go through the internet.

Take this in consideration and consider reading some more books when talking about homework assignments.
