Money vs Justice

On March 17, 2009 Denisse Fimbres Oquita and Victor Quiroz Beltrones were killed by Fernando Noriega Soto at Bahia de Kino. Denisse and Victor were camping in the beach when Fernando, who was driving in an alcoholic state run over them.
It has been a year since the dead of Denisse and Victor but is still I tragic story that we will always remember and have present. It’s incredible how having power and money can make a difference when you are involved in a crime. When the accident happen every single evidence and witness was hidden. The families new about their sun’s and daughter’s dead almost 12 hours later. Imagine what they felt about. What would have felt if nobody tell you what had happen? Let me tell you that I was frustrating not knowing anything. When Victor’s brother, Carlos Quiroz, finally arrive to the police station, Fernando Noriega was already being asses by a lawyer. It was obviously that something was going wrong. Everything that happen was changed in order to make Fernando Noriega an innocent person. When the accident was published in the newspaper, the story was completely changed. What the newspaper said that Fernando’s car got stucked in the sand and when he finally was able to move he accidentally run over the tent where Denisse and Victor were sleeping. Bullshiit ! it was a total controversy. How can it be possible that just because you are rich and know important people you are able to make your son free of any fault?
The families of Denisse and Victor wanted to know the truth, they wanted the truth to be published, they wanted justice. It took like a month after the accident for the truth to come a light. Fernando Noriega went to jail for less than a year. Even though he is free from jail, I’m sure he is not free of culprit and he will have to live with that. i don’t wish him any bad but I hope the death of Denisse and Victor is not in vane. I hope that what happen help create conscious in Fernando and in other people who drive in an alcoholic state. I also hope that authorities take more serious their work. They are there to make justice not to accept extra money you know what I mean. And I also hope the same that Fimbres and Quiroz family hopes too: Thet this never happens again

It was not my fault

One day i was reading the newspaper and I found a note that called my attention. The note was about a teenage girl that crushed. She was driving her car and she didn’t respect a stop sign. At the same time another car was driving and they crushed. The car accident was not what called my attention, what called my attention was that when the authorities were asking what happen the teenage girl said : “IT was his fault not mine, he was driving too fast” Thanks God the authorities did their job and penalize the girl. It would have been stupid if they didn’t. I’m sure that if the girl was daughter of a politician or came from a rich family the story would have been different and she would be free of any problem, but that’s not the case.
The reason I’m writing about this that we always want to blame somebody else for our errors. Since the beginning of human life blaming somebody is a bad habit that we have. Think about Adan and Eva, when God was disappointed at them, Adan blamed Eva and Eva blamed the snake. Since then we always blame somebody. Why can’t we be responsible for the consequences of our acts? I think that blaming somebody is a sign of cowardly, immaturity and irresponsibility. We need to break the habit; we need to start being responsible for what we do. Sometime we blame others because we are scared but we need to realize that by blaming somebody else we can damage an innocent person. it’s ok to commit errors, what’s inacceptable is to don’t correct them.

Hard Working

This partial has been full of projects homework and extracurricular activities. Sometimes I ask myself if school has always been as stressful as it is today. Once I ask my mom that question and she told me that in her times, homework was not as heavy as it is today and that they didn’t have as much of activities as we have today. At first I was kind of mad, because of all the things school expects us to do. I mean, why do have to study that much? why do we need to do so many things every day? why is it different?. We normally got to school 7 hours a day and they still want us to work at home. I went on strike for a while and refused to do my homework, but come on, who am I fooling? I had to do my homework so I started doing it.
The week before Semana Santa I had tons of homework, projects and activities I had to assist at school, and lets don’t forget about servicio becario and the rehearsal for our literature play. Something you will like to add? It was very stressful and full of hard working, but I was able to succeed on it. Finally vacations came, but guess what? Homework! Even though I was able to relax I still had to make a space on my schedule to do homework. That was not the worst, the worst of all came when we return to classes. All this week I have been going to sleep at 2am and I woke up at 5:30am. Not cool at all! But this was not the reason I decided to write about this. The reason is that I realize that all the hard work I had was worthwhile. Every single thing I did will help me in some way in my life. Sometime our schedule is completely full and we stress and get mad, but I think it is important to realize that all that hard work will be payback sooner or later in the future. Just remember:
“The success is only the reward, what really matters is hard working”

Feminism: The Radical Notion that Women are People Too

"If the first woman God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down all alone, together women ought to be able to turn it right side up again." - Sojourner Truth

I found this quote pretty interesting, and encouraging, and I think all women should know it by heart to know what they really are nowadays, to know they can, to encourage them.
Althought this movement dates from many years ago, it got stronger during the 60's and 70's, and a representative image is women going bra-less, since brassiere was a mean of oppression. Feminism in these decades was mainly led by the American women. Moreover, during these decades, the movement saw its radicalization and along with the pill, women's traditional role within the family changed totally. Therefore, women started to go to college and some women started to get jobs outside home that were as challenging as "men's" jobs. However, this laboral change was stronger during the 80's, when tha image of a women became an icon of a multitasking person who could both carry out her job and do well at home. Also, during the 60's and 70's women started to demand equal pay and free childcare provision. Nevertheless we can't forget women's labour during World War (I and II) when soldier men went to war and factories started to hire women and it was amazing to see that they could do it better.
Nowadays, women have undertaking roles in politics and economics. Since it took several years to get the right to vote, and many even gave their life for it, women are taking their opportunities seriously and many political parties recognize the importance of female vote and make an attempt to meet their needs. Unfortunately, there are still several women around the world who live under unfair conditions, being victims of many abuses. Some suffer at their workplace, some suffer at the streets, and some suffer even at home. This needs to change, and that is what tha quote conveys: We as women MUST fight for our rights. But, not only fight for ourselves, but also for those women in other parts of the world who cannot. We can fight discrimination, we can beat abuses, we can do it better. Together, of course we can.

The Lovely Bones

Last week i watched a movie called "The Lovely Bones". The movie takes place in year of 1973. it tells the storry of a girl named Susie, who was raped and murdered. She had a nice life. She had a nice family: mom , dad, little sister and brother. She also lived inanice neighborhod and went to school. She wasa tipical 15 year old. One day, after school, she was walking to her house when she saw her neighbor, Mr Harvey. She stopped to say hi and he invted her to enter a underground den he had jsut build. At fisrt she was not sure about it but he convinced her. One she entered he Raped her and murderd her. When she was late to dinner time er parrents started to worry, so her father went out to look for her. The mom called everybody she new to asked for her and she also called the police. The police started looking for the girl, they never find her. they only find the underground den and some stuff of her. The investigation lasted month but they never found anything. The police went to the house of every neighbor, they even went to the house of Mr Harvey, but they only made questons. Mr Harvey was a serial killer, he was carzy. He had raped and murdered mor than 15 girlsin the past years and he was never been caught. At the end of the movie the little sister of Susie brokes into Mr Harvey's hose and founds a notebook with evidence that proved that He was the killer. Mr Harvey is able to run away before the police arrives. He takes Susie's body with him, which is inside a save-deposit box and he throw it in a sinkwhole. (a whole in the earth). Obviously the body was never found.
The movie made me realize that even thought the movie could not be base in realistic facts, this realy happen. Before, cellphone didn't existed, parrents were not able to comunicate with the children. Now a days, you are ate for a minute and they have already call you more than five times. If you are n trouble, have an accident are lsot or something, you are able to call for help form your cellphone. Tecnology facilitates our lives alot. More tecnology also means more security. Now a days when someone is missing the police department has a lot of tecnology to find it. They really make good investigations. I see tv programs like Medical detectives and it is incredible how they are abel to solve a crime jst with a part of a nail or a smoked cigarret. Tecnology does not only mean more fun or mor confort, it also means more security for everybody. I'm lad to know that if someone kills for sure the killer will put into jail.

"I AM GOD AND I DO WHAT I WANT"

Did you know that power abuse is a serious social problem ?

Well yes, power abuse is always present. Sometime we don't notices it or we don't want to accept it. We can se power abuse present in every social circle. We are all victims and abusers. Power abuse limit us to think, express and act. Keeping quiet something that bothers you, nos saying what you think, or simply not think and only do what you are told to are things we permit and ar signs of power abuse.

You can find power abuse every where, one place is at school. Power abuse at school can be present when teachers feel that just because they are teacher and adults they have the right to do what ever they want. Some teachers think that they have the right to shout to a student and disrespect them just because they are teachers. "I¿m the teacher and what i do is correct" "I'm the teacher and my grade is correct because i said so" Those are some tipical phrases of an Abusive teachers. Being a teacher doesn't give them the right to disrespect a studen or to grde their work as they want. Teachers are there to teach us and to help us. We are ask for respect toward our teachers but teahcers can disrespect us ? i don't think so!

As students we have the right to be respected and treated in a good way. At Tecnologico de Monterrey we have the right to be respected by everyone in the campus and at the same time we have the obligation to respect others. We also have the right to complain i we are not ok with something, obviously in a propper and respectuful way.

We shouldn't be afraid of saying a teacher that they are wrong, we shouldn't be afraid of complaining and most importante we shound't be afraid of demmanding respect. I really hate when teachers think they can shout us, disrespect us humilliate us or grade our work as they want and that we students' won't do anything. And this might be truth, many students keep to theirselves. In school they teach us to respect others, to treat others i we would liek tobe treated, teaches the concept justices equiality, respect and many other things. school demands students to practice every single sing mentioned before, but how do they expect for us to do it if our teachers don't do it ?

Drug Use

Now a days we are living in a culture of drugs. We wake up and we consume caffeine while we drink our cup off coffee, during the day we might smoke a cigarette in order to eliminate stress and finally at night we are able to relax with a glass of alcohol or fall asleep with a sleeping pill. But those drugs are not the real, the real problem are the illegal drugs, like marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens, etc. Illegal drugs bring many problems to society: drug abuse, narcotrafic, violence, etc.

Most of the time the use of drugs start just for curiosity, but remember that curiosity killed the cat. Many people become drug dependants. People think that with drugs they can escape from all their problems but they are actually falling into a bigger problem. Drug abuse doesn’t bring anything good. Once i was talking with a friend who had problems with drugs, and i ask him: "Why did you use drugs?" his answer was: “When i use them it felt like if i was in a trip to happiness. I was able to forget every problem i had. I was able to live behind the problems in my house, the shouts of my parents, and my problems in school, everything that bothered me disappeared for a period of time." When he finished talking i couldn't say a word. How many people are in that same situation? People actually spend all that there money in drugs tat they think they will make them happy. They spend there life trying to travel in a trip to happiness that will lead them to everything except happiness. "When you are a drug addict 1000$ means nothing, you don't survive a whole weekend with 1000$" People who consume drugs spend a lot of money on it and what about drug dealers? They are rich : The economy of a drug addict person is really affected. If they work, they work to earn money to buy drugs. But the problem is that most of the time, if not always, drug abusers don't work and this causes rubs and things like that. Drug abuse is really a big problem in society.

Lets visit MEXICO !

Tourism in Mexico is a very important economic activity for the country and one of the greatest in the world. Mexico is in the 8th most visited country, world wide speaking. The most visited places are the ruins of the Mesoamerican culture, the colonial cities and the beaches. Its temperate climate and its cultural historic inheritance make Mexico an attractive touristic place. The coastline of Mexico houses many beaches, which are the main touristic point. The most visited beches are Cancun, Acapulco, Playa del Carnem, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarte, Puerto Peasco, Bahia de Kino, San Carlos, and Los Cabos.

Visitors come mainly from the United Sates and Canada. Mexico is very popular for its food, traditions, culture, beaches, ruins, and its people. Mexico is a very atractive place beacuase turiste know that they will be able to have fun and spend a nice time. Just in 2006 21,4 millions of visitants came to Mexico. Thanks to tourism Mexico earn 12,17 thousand million dls. Maybe Mexico is not one of the most important countries in bussiness or technoogy but it is one the most importantein tourism. For this reason the Mexican goverment should invest more in it. If the goverment invested more money in tourism, the tourist points could improve their quality. The creation of Hotels, restaurants and those kind of places are important. Keeping clean the touristic points, like beaches, is also very important.

A mature decision. A step to been an adult

e
One week ago I meet 2 girls from a little invasion here in Hermosillo. The name of one of the girls was Lucia and the other one Estefanía. Lucia has 15 years old and Estefanía is one year older than Lucia, and both are pregnant.
The problem of pregnancy in early young girls or teenager pregnancy is a very common issue all over the world. But I have never met someone that was going through that. A lot of the underage girls decide to abort the baby because they can take the responsibility of a person in their hands. Others decide to give the little baby on adoption and the ones that are a little more mature, decide to keep them and try to give them the best life that they can.
I talked to them and they old me that the baby that they were carrying out was for a bad decision that they took. But they said that they had no regrets because they were going to give birth to a precious person in the world.
Even though their parents aren’t helping them a lot with they pregnancy, both Lucia and Estefanía are helping each other. Lucia is working at an “abarrotes” near her house and Estefanía is working as a housecleaner on downtown.
In a way I feel sad for that girls, they wasted a lot of they fun times on they teenager but in the other hand I respect them and feel proud of them because they decide to keep the babies.

ELEVEN MINUTES

Last night I finished reading a book of one of my favorite authors Paulo Cohelo. The book is named Eleven Minutes, when I finished reading the book I went with my mom and started giving her a breif description about the book because I wanted her to read it. The book is about a Brazilian poor girl looking for opportunities in the big cities, suddenly she was involved in a prostituion work. The conflict was that when the girl started earning money she taught that with that job she can actually get everything she had always dreamed, and thing like that. My mom was really interested in what I was talking, but she interrupted me beacuse she remebered something she saw on TV in the morning. She started telling me about a program she saw of prostitution, but that it was really weird beacuse many time we associate the word prostitution with a low class girl, the thing is that in this program the girls that where in this kind of job where middle class and high class girls that where trying like in the book get things that they have always dreamed about having like bags, jewelery, shoes ETC. So when my mom told me about this I looked some articles in internet, and I found one of UNICEF that a recent survey talks about this problem that it not only affect low classes. I think that this is really bad for every girl not only for middle an high class girls even for low class girls and of course also boys. This is another thing we should have more in consideration like many other problems this is also important.

SEX, SEX, SEX & MORE SEX

Today, when i was watching the superbowl i noticed how everything in publicity is related with SEX. Out of ten comercials, only one do not shows a sexy girl wearing a bikini or showing part of her body. Just think about it, almst all commercial contains a sexual image. Cocacola can't sell his product with out a sexy girl in a red bikin taken the sun in the beach. Most comercials tell you : "buy this and you will have the sexiest girls or boy are your side" or "use this and she or he won0t be able to resist to you" AX comercial ( the deodorant) shows a guy that uses ax and in a second he has 10 women touching him and hounding him. Another good exampel of a deodorant comercial showing a secual image is All Spice a think; i'm taling about the comercial that shouw a very sexy girls dancing in an exotic way and sweting, and then they say : When she sweats is sexy when you do it Not! i mean is that really necessary? What about Hollister, Abecrombie, etc. every single comcercial photo publicity in general, show a very very sexy guy witout a tshirt and wearing his jeans in a very special way.. i mean, come on ¬¬ i little bit more down and it won't be necessary to imagine how does he looks like whenhe is taking a shower ! I think that commercials for food, cars, hygiene products, clothing, etc show MORE secual images than CONDONS COMERCIALS! yes or no ?
Some how i could say that economy is related to sex. I mean, people incharge of making publicity is really inteligent because they know what people like, what people want. What about Megan Fox or Brad Pitt? they are rich because of theire talent, but please don't come and tell me that their super hot bodies have no influence ¬¬ Another good example of how sex is related with economy: Hugh Hefner, the playboy creator. He is millionary just because he sells pictures and movies of naked women ! That's an easy way of winning life ! Not only the fundator is rach, but also the PORNSTARS are rich !

Here some math ecuations:
sex+money= prostitution
sex+money+prostituion+publicity= playboy
sex+money+prostitution+publicity+playboy= sick people!
sex+money+prostitution+publicity+playboy+ sick people= rape
sex+money+prostitution+publicity+playboy+ sick people+ rape+more rape = human traffiking
sex+money+prostitution+publicity+playboy+ sick people+ rape+more rape +human traffiking = MORE SICK PEOPLE THAT BECOMES RICH THANKS TO SEX!!

As a conclution in 2010 economy is equal to sex ! NOT COOL AT ALL !

"Get out of the car miss, lets solve this problem ;)"

I want to share with you an experientraffic light to ce i had this weekend. It was a friday night, we went to a party with some friends and had fun. It was almost 1:30 am when we were driving back home. We were waiting for the traffic light to change red, when a police car stops at our right side. The policeman looked at us with a weird sight. The traffic light changed and we started moving. Not even 10 seconds passed when the police car turned the siren ligths on. We stoped imediatley. The police man went to the car and lighted us with his flashlight. But let me explain that if we hadn't had our coats on our legs he would have seeen more than the car's floor. Then the police man sayed: "Are you in a hurry miss ?" and my friend answer: mm noo why ?, he sayed: You are asking why ? You were driving at high speed. ( You should have seen our faces of : what's wrong with this guy ¬¬? we were almost 60km/h could somebody pleas explain me !! and Sam was like: amm are you suree? maybe your speedometer is wrong cup :) and the cup : no miss i can't be wrong! Are you drunk ? Your are drunk right ? Please get out of the car now ! Lets solve this problem ;)
Obviously we didn't get out of the car. We now our rights and we can't be obligated to get out of our car. This kind of things make me soo maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!! Cups are corrupts and promiscuous. But we are more inteligent than them and that's why they let us go with any ticket.

SHOUT FOR EQUALITY!

2010 is here and we are still facing problems with equality between men and women. Many statistics show that inequality is something that it is learned at home and by our culture. But 2010 is time to shout for equality we can not continue living in a community having inequialities between humans(men and women) that have the same capacity to make things possible. Things can not continue this way beacuse everyone is the same no matter what gender you are, what you wear, or where you live. Inequality has to be a lot with discrimination. The term discrimination that refers to the treatment taken against to a certain people or group. Inequality between men and women is like a kind os discrimination because they think women like things. The thing is that women are EQUAL to men only with different physical characteristics. In my thursday exam I read something about inequal payment of 21% less to women even if they have more studies than men. This are the kind of thing we need to change for our future and for our kids future. The kind of thing that our parents lived we do not have the necessity to face them because they are not fair. So it is your decision the type of life you want for you and for your kids. We need to shout for equality now!

We Need an Inmediate Intervention

Nowadays human trafficking with purpose of trafficking or illegal traffic has increased alarmingly. This is due to the problems in economy, the ones many countries face, also because of the lack of implementation of programs to combat it, and of course the huge demands of cheap labor work. Human trafficking is the third most lucrative crime worldwide, next to drug traffic and arms traffic.
This bad situation had contributed for women, kids and youngsters, in vulnerable situations became preys of crimes including sexual and labor exploitation. This gave rise to the phenomenon of human trafficking, which first was called “WHITE TRAFFIKING”.
In the middle 80’s the international community, in search to define the phenomenon of human trafficking, consider insufficient the term white trafficking, that until that days still was used to define the problem, the reason of changing the name was that not only white women where traffic for sexual exploitation, instead kids, youngsters and women from several parts of the world where exploited sexually and labouringly. This is why the term “Human trafficking” started being used, but this term suddenly started to present confusions because not all traffics necessarily involve people.
Trafficking in migrants is given usually in illegal terms, which facilitate the introduction of a person to a country in which he/she was not born or lived in there; with the purpose of obtaining an economical or material benefit.
Trafficking in migrants and of humans are extremely delimited in diverse national legislations characterized as CRIMES!
It was until December of 200, when 147 nations signed the convention of the United Nations against the organized crime and its sub themes like human trafficking. In December of 2003 the Unites Nations started punishing and suppressing the crime. As we can observe human trafficking is a very complex phenomenon, which does not have sexually and labouringly means only. In contrast in this term we can find many crimes some of the most commons are fake adoptions with the purpose to sell kids and organs; labor workers with purpose of forced marriages, and capturing kids to send them to wars.

Equality Now

I was surfing the web in order to find information for my post and i found a website named Equalty Now. It is a website works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world. EqualityNow concerns about: rape, domestic violence, traffiking of women, female genital mutilation, politcal participation, gender discriminaton, among other things. Equality Now was founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. Equality Now shows the world violence and discrimination against women and mobilizes international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses. They distribute information about human rigts violations, take actiosn to protest those violations and bring public attention. This asosiation is callng for justice and equality for women.

I think this asosiation rocks Women su be treated with respect like men are treated. we have the same rights as them and our rights should be respected.

In the website i also read some this:

  • India: A 10-year-old girl is rescued by a flight attendant who notices her crying. Her father has sold her to the 60-year-old Saudi Arabian man sitting next to her for the equivalent of US$240.

  • Kenya: At a boarding school, 300 boys attack the girls' dormitory. Seventy-one girls are raped. Nineteen are trampled to death in the stampede to escape. The school's vice principal remarks, "The boys never meant any harm against the girls. They just wanted to rape."

  • Brazil: A man who confessed to stabbing his wife and her lover to death is for the second time acquitted of murder by an all-male jury. The acquittal is based on the argument that he acted in legitimate defense of his wronged honor.

  • Ireland: A 14-year-old girl, raped by the father of her best friend, learns she is pregnant. She is prohibited from travelling to England where abortion is legal. Only when she indicates she will commit suicide if forced to carry the pregnancy to term does the Supreme Court allow her to proceed.

  • United States: A 51-year-old woman is stabbed 19 times and killed by her former boyfriend as she waits inside a courthouse to extend an order of protection. Twice before he had been charged with harassment. Both times the charges were dropped

COULD SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT'S GONG ON WITH THE WORLD ? this kind of things make sick and mad!!!
