Soccer

The one who introduced soccer…
The son of Scottish immigrant and Brazilian mother. His name was Charles William Miller. After studying 10 years in England, he returned to Brazil in 1894 and in his backpack he brought 2 soccer balls of the brand “shoot”, an air bomb, 2 uniforms and a book about this sport. The “father” of the Brazilian soccer has already played soccer while he was in the old continent with the team of his college in Southampton, where he was distinguished by scoring 25 goals in 41 matches. The first match celebrated in Brazil was the 14th of April of 1895 in the city of Sao Paulo, where the workers of the train station won against the workers of a gas company. The score was 4-2. The Paulist league of first division was born in 1901

As we know the Brazilians are world famous for their soccer. The Brazilian team has won 5 times the world cup. It is interesting how the sport became so popular in this South American country. As we know there have been many world famous soccer players throughout history. The Brazilians players are all around the world playing in many countries. One thing many have noticed is that in Brazil are few players in the league that will join the national team. Many players of the national team play in other countries especially in Europe. The Brazilians players become recognize because they play in European leagues, and in Europe they become soccer stars making them so valuable. The Brazilians players are so well recognized that many children in Brazil dreams becoming as one of their Brazilians soccer stars.
