Jewerly

The earring, the talisman, the business, the society.

The popular costume of wearing earrings come from occidental Asia around the year 3000 B.C. the oldest earrings ever found are around the year 2500 B.C and were found in an excavation in the old city of Ur in the actual Iraq. Cultures such as the Indians, Persians, Hebrews, Babylonians, Germans, Arabs and Welsh used them as talismans. Wearing them was considered the best way to not getting sick or malefic influences and to bring good luck for those ones that wear them. The earrings consisted from stones and weeds until figures that represented gods, animals, vegetables or other objects. They were used by both males and females but they had a decline in the Middle Age, but little by little the returned their importance.

Earrings were also used as talismans such as chains, rings hats, crowns among others. The earrings evolved from the use for good luck until what we have today. Today we used them as a complementary for our clothes but some people used them as a form of elegancy and a way of expressing their social level class. They have evolved from an ordinary thing to a business; many jewel designers have got much money for the making of earrings. Nowadays we have infinitives designs from a single little ball to artistic hanging designs. An important fact is that nowadays mostly women wear them not like the first ones that both men and women used them. Little by little men are starting to use them again but society sees them in a strange way. The earring, the talisman, the business, the society.
