Being a tec student.. (i remind you this is JUST an opinion c: )

Hanging out with friends, having time to hang out with your family, having a relaxing week-end, preparing mentally for a basketball match... these are only a few things many people do while being a teenager in the wild world of high school, but not in TEC. Since the first day of school we were thrown a bunch of responsibilities that people in COLLEGE have. I´m in fourth semester, and i am proud of saying that i have survived so far(barely). Having teenage personals problems isn't enough to make you have a break down here, every little situation is viewed as such a BIG deal.
Im talking in general, not in some classes, teachers tend to forget that their class is not the only one we have, and they tend to forget that we also have a social life that doesn't involve books, theories, etc. since you begin the semester the PRESSURE starts, by the end of the semester i bet you that you have lost more than half of the amount of hair you used to have(im deadly serious.). I'm not saying its impossible, but TEC does tend to put drastic tension on us. Week ends aren't that fun anymore, because there will always be something of homework, if someday you think you are "homework-free" you are probably 99.99% wrong. Here there exists 3 kinds of people: the nerds, (not-so-smart-compared-to-nerds) hard working people, and the not so smart people that simply dont care nor appreciate the opportunity they have. Eventually many give up to the extreme pressure, and not everyone survives the journey on TEC.
i am aware that this school is one of the bests, and that everyone in it should be honored to be here, and that its not that they hate us(or want to make us miserable), its just that they want to prepare us REALLY good, but they are forgetting that we are just teenagers and life isn't only about books, classes, etc. its also about enjoying( in a healthy way) being alive. Because eventually when you enter TEC there will be a moment in your life that everything will turn rutinary.

Jewerly

The earring, the talisman, the business, the society.

The popular costume of wearing earrings come from occidental Asia around the year 3000 B.C. the oldest earrings ever found are around the year 2500 B.C and were found in an excavation in the old city of Ur in the actual Iraq. Cultures such as the Indians, Persians, Hebrews, Babylonians, Germans, Arabs and Welsh used them as talismans. Wearing them was considered the best way to not getting sick or malefic influences and to bring good luck for those ones that wear them. The earrings consisted from stones and weeds until figures that represented gods, animals, vegetables or other objects. They were used by both males and females but they had a decline in the Middle Age, but little by little the returned their importance.

Earrings were also used as talismans such as chains, rings hats, crowns among others. The earrings evolved from the use for good luck until what we have today. Today we used them as a complementary for our clothes but some people used them as a form of elegancy and a way of expressing their social level class. They have evolved from an ordinary thing to a business; many jewel designers have got much money for the making of earrings. Nowadays we have infinitives designs from a single little ball to artistic hanging designs. An important fact is that nowadays mostly women wear them not like the first ones that both men and women used them. Little by little men are starting to use them again but society sees them in a strange way. The earring, the talisman, the business, the society.

Soccer

The one who introduced soccer…
The son of Scottish immigrant and Brazilian mother. His name was Charles William Miller. After studying 10 years in England, he returned to Brazil in 1894 and in his backpack he brought 2 soccer balls of the brand “shoot”, an air bomb, 2 uniforms and a book about this sport. The “father” of the Brazilian soccer has already played soccer while he was in the old continent with the team of his college in Southampton, where he was distinguished by scoring 25 goals in 41 matches. The first match celebrated in Brazil was the 14th of April of 1895 in the city of Sao Paulo, where the workers of the train station won against the workers of a gas company. The score was 4-2. The Paulist league of first division was born in 1901

As we know the Brazilians are world famous for their soccer. The Brazilian team has won 5 times the world cup. It is interesting how the sport became so popular in this South American country. As we know there have been many world famous soccer players throughout history. The Brazilians players are all around the world playing in many countries. One thing many have noticed is that in Brazil are few players in the league that will join the national team. Many players of the national team play in other countries especially in Europe. The Brazilians players become recognize because they play in European leagues, and in Europe they become soccer stars making them so valuable. The Brazilians players are so well recognized that many children in Brazil dreams becoming as one of their Brazilians soccer stars.

What could happen and what can we do about it?

It seems to be that all we ever talk about now a day is about pollution, global warming and recycling. Even though we can see it everywhere at all times, some people still do not get the message. Pollution is still going on and does not stop even though industries are told that they are contaminating our air and destroying our ozone layer, none of these can be restored and we are suffering the consequences of their ignorance. Because of the contaminants that pollution has a whole in the ozone is created and then this lets more sun radiation into the atmosphere of our planet causing global warming. This at the same time is causing the North and South Pole to melt which will slowly produce more water which will then affect the amount of land that will be remaining on earth. All this because people are not doing what they know they should be doing, using less electronics, saving energy and so on; not only is it the society that is not doing what they should, but also politicians who should be the first to put the example, that is why they have those ranks, to put the example among society and show them what is right.

Recycling is another factor involved, this is barley begging to be put in use, and maybe not even in the correct way. If we want to help the environment and at the same time help ourselves we must recycle and really put it into practice not just say that we will because will not benefit us at all. There are so many things we can recycle, like paper, plastic, glass ; reuse, paper, cardboard, glass, and so on. Lets be conscious of what were are doing and how it all will benefit us.

Excessive consumption

Every time a go to the United States, I found out that there is a new videogame console with certain capacity of saving, a lot of people is buying that console because is the double of capacity than the previous one they had and it is at a real good price. But later I find out like four months after that trip, that the same console launched another console with even more capacity and better quality of graphics at the same price than the console I saw four months ago. This is how economy is working now, we cannot enjoy of some new article because in a few months we will be “oldies” because the new device is a lot better than the one we have. There is no way to stop technology from keep advancing, but we definitely will have to see things from other way if we have to survive this excessive consumption era. It is excessive that companies are releasing new articles very soon. I think this one of the causes that cause the economic crisis, people want new things so they waste all they have without caring about the consequences. It is impossible to stop the way companies do their job, but it is possible to control ourselves of buying every new thing on the market, we have to be intelligent in that aspect.

Basketball an unpopular sport in Mexico

We live in a country were football is the most followed sport, the most recognized around the world, and where the money goes from most of the advertisement during the National Mexican Football Team. If we talk about basketball here in Mexico, only a few people will know who are the bests players, the bests teams and only a few amount of people will play it. I have played this sport since 6th grade, and basketball is something I really like, and I also like that here in my school, basketball is well supported by our directors. But what makes me feel bad is that in Mexico is not loved by so many people. Only one player is currently playing in the NBA, the best league of the world, his name is Eduardo Najera. I think he should be a good example to follow to promote basketball here in Mexico, we really need it, in the United States there are millions of people who follow several sports, why Mexico could not be able to become more fan of basketball? I think it could happen if with the time it receives more publicity by the big TV companies., they play an important role on people’s likings, what is more on the TV is where people will put attention, and basketball deserves attention here in Mexico.

It was not my fault

One day i was reading the newspaper and I found a note that called my attention. The note was about a teenage girl that crushed. She was driving her car and she didn’t respect a stop sign. At the same time another car was driving and they crushed. The car accident was not what called my attention, what called my attention was that when the authorities were asking what happen the teenage girl said : “IT was his fault not mine, he was driving too fast” Thanks God the authorities did their job and penalize the girl. It would have been stupid if they didn’t. I’m sure that if the girl was daughter of a politician or came from a rich family the story would have been different and she would be free of any problem, but that’s not the case.
The reason I’m writing about this that we always want to blame somebody else for our errors. Since the beginning of human life blaming somebody is a bad habit that we have. Think about Adan and Eva, when God was disappointed at them, Adan blamed Eva and Eva blamed the snake. Since then we always blame somebody. Why can’t we be responsible for the consequences of our acts? I think that blaming somebody is a sign of cowardly, immaturity and irresponsibility. We need to break the habit; we need to start being responsible for what we do. Sometime we blame others because we are scared but we need to realize that by blaming somebody else we can damage an innocent person. it’s ok to commit errors, what’s inacceptable is to don’t correct them.

NOT EVEN SKY?

Last week in my French class the teacher was teaching us about TV programs of France. Since my teacher is from Cuba immeditely we started talking about TV programs of Cuba. Cuba is a country that is caracterized by having a government that few countries in the world have, known as Socialism. Socialism is a type of government known as GOVERNMENT CONTROL EVERYTHING .. but when I used to think about it I did not taught it was so radical. First of all government control works, food and EVEN TV! TV is controled in a way that people only have 4 TV chanels, but the thing here is that they do not have TV'ads!!!.. I think these is one of the most radical types of governments and i'm really against it, people have to always be allowed to earn money to buy wht they want, work in what they want, get the life they want! BUT how can this be so radical? and also how can people still follow that type of government. I do not say that Mexico's type of government is the best one or that people live better in here than in Cuba, but where are people rights? WE ARE FREE! we do not need some one to speal neither to gave us what they think we need. SPEAK OUT YOUR RIGHTS

Evidence of Global Warming: The Poles Are Melting

Recent newa informed that the situation of the north and south poles is getting worse periodically, the glaciers are melting which is caused by the Global warming. The effects of this situation, which some scientists are trying to negate or they still don’t believe in this crisis, are getting worse, for example in the north, Polar bears face an uncertain future or maybe extinction because they will probably be forced to face longer summers which can kill them because of the temperature, but at the same time the heat is causing a thinning of the sea ice on which they rely for hunting seals. The ice is getting thinner and thinner and the polar bears will be forced to swim very long distances looking for shelter, food or even a place where they can walk.

I can’t believe there are still some scientists or ignorant people who think that this situation is just temporal and that the situation will be over soon. This is what really makes me mad, our situation is not really god, it is getting worse and several climatic phenomena are affecting our world in a severe way and still some scientist say that everything will be fine, that there is nothing to worry about. Maybe they will change their mind when the poles melt down and a lot of countries will be flooded. Well the poles are melting and this is a very clear evidence of the Global Warming, a situation that will destroy our world if we don’t change our behavior and begin to help our planet. As I mentioned in my last blog, I don’t understand why the humans begin to act in a right way, only when the consequences of their acts are really severe and solutions are something very hard to find and to achieve.

The Lack of Values Generates Problems

While I was thinking for a topic to make my blog post I was really stressed, because I remembered that I had a lot of home works and assignments for the next day. I tried to find someone to blame, but I realized that all this was my fault, because of my irresponsibility, if I had done all my assignments on the weekend and with anticipation, I wouldn’t be having problems but unfortunately the responsibility is not a very strong value on me. This is a very common situation for us, young people, and I’m sure that I’m not the only one who is suffering this situation.

I don’t understand why humans have to suffer and go through very uncomfortable situations to really understand the importance of being responsible in our actions. The example I mentioned before is not very important or relevant, but I have another example, one that has affected us since 2007, the Economic Crisis. Well you might think that there nothing in common between the irresponsibility of people and the crisis, but we could say that the lack of responsibility in the borrowers is what really caused this situation, these people who asked for a lot of money just to try to get a better life by buying a lot of products didn’t pay their loans on time and all this because of the irresponsible attitude that the people adopted. With this last example we could see the importance of some values, and how a negative behaviour could cause severe problems for ourselves and maybe the whole world. So please be responsible and make your assignments on time that will give you a lot of benefits.

People and Money

As we have seen in class and in the world all around us, there are people buying and buying everything they want because they think they need it, but do they really and who much is this costing them? This is one of the reasons we have the crisis going on right now.

People receive money because of the services and jobs they execute, many of this people the minute they receive money they want to go and buy objects that sometimes they do not necessarily need, sometimes they buy big things which cost a lot of money that they most probably do not have because of the salary they receive each month. At the moment that they realize that do not have enough money then this is the time were banks get involved, theses people ask the banks for loans, they think it is okay because they have time to save up money and later on pay the bank back, but what they do not realize is that most of the time for one thing or another that they wanted to buy something else they use up money that they were going to use to pay the banks back and when they are not able to pay the banks back that is exactly were the crisis begins and well we know the rest.

I think that many people are being very irresponsible at not realizing exactly the amount of money that they are using up and then they end up with huge debts that later on they cannot pay back. We should be more conscientious and responsible for our actions.

Stress Free

Stress is a feeling created when we react to certain events, which are preparing the body to meet a tough situation. Stress a feeling well known to all people around the world, whether it is because of work, cannot do something you want, etc. Students in TEC feel stress 24/7, because of homework, quizzes, partial exams, final projects, etc. All this is very hard work homework never stop coming in is something we have every single day; partial exams are evaluations of what we have seen through the whole month and the last one is the evaluation of the whole semester, imagine having to study for an exam that contains information of 4 months, it’s a lot of information which causes pressure which causes stress.

Some signs that you have stress are: anxiety or panic attacks, feeling constantly pressured, stomach problems, headaches, chest pain, problems sleeping (which is the most common symptom), depression, drinking to much (believe it or not) , overeating

and other people just get very angry.

There are also ways in which you can avoid being stressed and when stressed become relaxed: getting a good night’s sleep, do not overscheduled (too much things in your agenda can provoke pressure), learn to relax by breathing slowly, exercise, be optimist.

As we can see we live stress every day of our lives, but there are also ways in which we can prevent it and help ourselves relax. Live your life stress free.

Youtube, Target of violent videos

It is true that the videos most popular website Youtube has been very useful for millions of people. First it was a good site to hear music and watch the most recent videos, but later, it started to have more and more violent videos. How to forget when Sadam Jussain was sentenced to death and in hours hundreds of people were uploading the video that showed Jussain’s death.
Now it is very common to find street fights among teenagers, and what is more sad of all this, is the great quantity of videos that shows violence in school. When I saw for the first time in the news about this situation, I did not really give importance to it, but now I realize how this problem is. Also, it is becoming more often to see also terrible gunfights that involves deaths and hurt blooding people.
I know that this was not Youtube’s creator idea, and I am sure they do everything they can to keep this type of terrible videos out of their websites, but still, it is hard to watch the reality of this ugly world so close with this kind of uploads.
It is terrible that technology can bring us bad things like this ones, just think for a moment in the kids who navigate in the internet and find violence so easily, obviously they will not grown up normally, they could become violent, and all because some guys decided to put the “funny” video where they were hurting someone. This has to change, technology bring us good things but the reality is that is giving us more unnecessary and ugly things.

Marketing Online, great idea!

Last Wednesday we were inform about a video that people from university of our campus want to do in order to upload it to internet, the ladies that explained all to us said that it was a new way to promote our school, and also a very original because few institutions have done it so far, they called online marketing.

First the idea was not very clear to me, until a video was show up. This video was of a school in France that was doing online marketing, it started with a couple of people arriving at school, and then the tour around their campus began, all in one shot, one sequence. People dancing and singing (it remind me High School Musical) were showing to us how were their buildings and which activities they do, a really impressive idea because they never talk to the camera about their school, people there just sing and dance but everything can be understood easily.

Online marketing also can be defined as Internet marketing, i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or e-Marketing. Among the reasons I consider this type of marketing really good is because is inexpensive, just imagine how many people could see a video on internet in a single day if the video is located on a popular website.

Internet marketing can offer a greater sense of accountability for advertisers. Marketers and their clients are becoming aware of the need to measure the collaborative effects of marketing.

They video will be recorded on April 26, with only one attempt of practice before making the real video, more than 300 students will participate on it. There is no question about, it will be really fun and will be the beginning of online marketing era in Tec.

Corruption does not stop

There is no doubt that in many countries there is corruption. The concept of corruption consists in the taking of money it is not form their own work. Politicians usually ask for certain amount of money to the government to make infrastructure, but most of time they use a little part of that amount and the rest is “of them”, this actions obviously affect the standard of life of many people that expects more from their government.
I think that in Mexico is one of the countries with a democratic system that presents almost always a corrupted system. People in the streets have lost confidence to the people on power, and I am one of them. Even if we vote for the “less worse” candidate, we will end up dealing with some corrupt guy.

This is a situation that should concern to all of us because corruption makes honest people lose jobs and make our country a worst place. In Mexico, there have been many shame stories like “Juanito’s” one, a politician that was supposed to quit after winning an election to give his power to other person, it was a false candidate. Come on! In what other country you will se that? Probably none, only in a country where corruption has become more normal each day, something that should worry more than one person.

A new lizard is found in the Philippines

It seems that a new species was discovered and after several DNA analysis, scientists confirmed that this species was unknown or did not exist.
Scientists couldn’t see the lizard for the trees. But now they’ve tracked down and named Varanus bitatawa, a skittish reptile that’s hard to spot even though it grows up to 2 meters long and sports bright yellow speckles.
In forests on the Philippine island of Luzon, the newly discovered monitor lizard hauls itself up into trees in search of fruit and melts into the vegetation if humans approach, says herpetologist Rafe Brown of the Biodiversity Institute at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
DNA tests were even more important, confirming that the species differs from a previously identified fruit-eating monitor living in a different part of the island. The first thing that came to my mind was if this event has something to do with biodiversity imbalance. It is true that technology is advancing pretty fast, but is not a secret that a lot of species have been discovered in past years quicker. So what if we are damaging our ecosystem at some point that even new animals are being born. We have to take care more of our planet or more imbalances will keep presenting.
It was until summer of 2009 when the same team of scientist start working deeper on the discovery of this reptile and they finally got an answer. I really hope that this is not about ecosystem imbalance because just like this species came on, also bad things can happen, like species extinction, let’s say that it was a scientific big advance, for the moment.

Turkey's social challenges

Turkey is considered as a "new"country, that in the latest years has took the interest of the world. It has various types of ethnic groups, and it's like a mosaic of different cultures. However, it has different problems among its borders, and some of them are like others countries, are the most common.

But I want to emphatize people's life, the society, because I want to make others know what's their situation and what type of problems they have to face. First we have social class problem. In Turkey there's a 10% of population that belongs to the upper class, obviously, it he people who are in politics, wealthy business, among other important charges.

In middle class, there's a 20 to 25 % of population that works as employees and other things, to belong to this class. Unfotunately, more than 60 % of population in Turkey belongs to the lower class, and in its majoritym, they don't have the resources to have a house on their own, so they have to build temporary shelters. The problem is that this shelters become permanent, and a group of those is a neighborhood with electricity, piped water and paved streets.

Other problem is school attendance, because there's not enough educational centers, some young persons leave school at young ages to work, the problems for them is that they far away or they don't have the resources to cross long distances.

Other problem is health care, because a decent one can only be found in big cities. In small towns or rural areas, its difficult to fiend a good one, because the doctors in this area doesn't get paid as well as others, so they leave those places.

It's obvious that Turkey has its problems, but they can work to bring solutions that eventually will improve the situation and make a better country.

Classes in school

This blog post is about all the classes that are given in school, which all students wonder if they are really going to have anything to do with their future lives. As I was wondering if they are really going to have any kind of importance in my later life I realized that they did. What sometimes can make the difference between making those classes interesant or not is: who are giving the classes and the activities that are applied in class. Students have an stricted period of time in which they have to be in school, and for that not to be boring, teacher have to make classes interesting; that is why teaching is a profession.

Many students make the big mistake thinking that studying and learning sucks and it is boring, we don't the see the big picture here learning can be interesting and besides that, very important. I'm not saying that the most important learning is what comes from school, but it will determine an important call in your life.

All kinds of learnings are important, that was my conclusion. Do not reject any kind of lesson you can learn, we have to appreciate what comes from the outside and take advantage of it. We must always remember lessons are not given to us to make us suffer, they are given to us to make us better.

The Chechen independence

We may have heard recent news about terrorist attacks in Russia. All this attacks are due to the Chechen people trying to get independent from the current Russian power.

This Chechen people live in a region known as Chechnya. This territory first gained independence after the dissolvment of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, Russia tried to recover this territory and after a second war, they took it back.

Since that moment, Chechnya has still tried to become independent again because they don't share the same overall culture than the rest of Russia. The problem with the Russian government is that they are not willing to give in easily that territory and are looking to maintain it in their power despite the menaces the Chechen people have told the Russian federation.

I believe Russia should evaluate if this region is really important for them to keep it as theirs. It may be more problematic that a new independent country is born from this Chechen region, but for Russia, a lot of terrorists attacks would start decreasing. Russia should also see that possessing a lot of territories is not always the best thing; they should also be aware that giving the Chenchen people the same treat as the rest of the Russian people is what they should be trying to do.

Of course this problem is not an easy-to-solve problem as it brings out so many positive and negative consequences. I think Russia must be really careful about what it does regarding its decisions. If it looks to maintain a peace treaty, it should be discret about it, and if it decides to conceive independence or not, it still has to be sure that it is doing what's best for the people and what can have the best positive consequences.

Shanghai's world class fair

A really big fair will take place in Shanghai next month. What the Chinese city is trying to do is to get the recognition from all over the world as one of the best events on the planet, they want all the people of the world to know what is the “Shanghai Fair”, something like the Carnival that takes place in Brazil every spring. Since the mid-20th century, world fairs have lost much of their shine as air travel is now very easy to do now people can fly all over the world without a problem (people with money), television and the Internet became more efficient means of introducing people to new ideas and they forgot how it is to be in a city’s fair. Shanghai, a city where technology has advanced in enormous ways in the past years, now is trying to get an older type of event that congregates an important number of people. Of course, millions of tourists have already got a place to be in the fair that will begin in May. China opened to the world with one of the biggest and prettiest Olympic Games in history, impressing us with the inauguration ceremony and with the technology advanced structures they used for the competitions. Now they want to show us that they can be a great place for tourism with this impressive event. There is no doubt that they have improved socially and economically. In the economic aspect we all know that because of the big number of products they export, but I also said that socially because China is now caring more about their people and also people from other countries, something that did not happen in the past. It is great that this kind of events exist, it will surely motivate other important cities to make something real special for people. Today we mention the Brazil’s carnival and everybody knows that we are talking about a great event. We might later talk in a not so long future about the great Shanghai fair.

Polish President’s death, a big tragedy

As most people know, President Lech Kaczynski died last Saturday in a plane crash during a hard landing somewhere in Russia. Because many important people of the Polish government were in the plane during the accident, most people thought that it could be a terrorist attack. “Fortunately” it was not the case and it was an error of the person flying the plane. A lot of presidents have sent their condolences to the people of Poland and to the families of the people who died during the crash. Russian and Polish investigators are working side by side to analyze the flight recorders and evidence from Saturday's crash in Smolensk. Russian news agencies are quoting the transport ministry spokesman in saying the voice and data recorders are being analyzed at a special laboratory in the presence of Russian and Polish officials.

The body of Poland's president Lech Kaczynski arrived back home Sunday as his stunned nation mourned the elite victims of a jet crash in Russia that has left intense focus on the pilots' last actions. After observing a nationwide two-minute silence for the 96 dead, tens of thousands lined the route taken by the casket from Warsaw airport to the presidential palace. Also killed in the crash were Poland's national bank president, deputy foreign minister, army chaplain, head of the National Security Office, deputy parliament speaker, Olympic Committee head, civil rights commissioner and Kaczynski’s wife, Maria. It was a big coincidence that the country’s leaders were on the same plane at the time of the accident. Among the country’s leader that expressed their condolences to President Kaczynski was the prime minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu that said that Kaczynski was "a leader who did much for his country" and his death "constitutes a great loss for the Polish people and all peace- and freedom-loving nations”. Also, prime minister of England Gordon Brown said that Lech Kaczynski was a person that fought very hard to get his country’s freedom. Without a doubt everyone will remember Lech Kaczynski as a great man that did a lot for Poland, let’s hope that he is in a better place right now.

Energy = Garbage?

When I took the newspaper in Sunday morning I read a headline that caught my attention right away, the headline said “It is being analyzed how to create electric energy with garbage” , a little below it said also that Sonora needs 500,000 tons of sweepings each year to convert them into electricity. Recently we have seen the alternative ways of getting energy, such alternatives include windmills, solar panels and cells, geothermic machines and nuclear power as some options to get energy, but now that I see sweepings as other way to get electricity I’m very impressed. It is said also that the advantages and disadvantages are being studied. In Germany and United States this technology is already being used, so I think if Sonora starts using this way of obtaining energy it will totally launch us to next level of using technology because this can bring many more studies that allow us to get other types of technology in order to help our society. As a curious note it is said that in Sonora a total of 870,000 tons of sweepings are produced every year, good enough to produce a good amount of electricity. In the note it is also said that every town in Sonora will have a say in the decision: if this plants to generate electricity are constructed or not. Now that a new technology like this one can be installed here in our state, there is a good chance to find other forms of getting energy, as I commented before, it would be good if someone brought wind turbines to get energy from the wind or if the solar cells become every day more common it will definitely be a big step into a new Sonora full of technology and new ways of obtaining energy, something that should concern us more than it actually does.

In recent days there has been a wave of big political violence in Bangkok the capital of Thailand. More than 800 people were injured in the clashes between the protesters and security forces, which came three days after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva declared a state of emergency in Bangkok. Some protesters also acted in a threatening manner towards local journalists, accusing them of bias in covering the protests. A television crew member was injured when a protester smashed the window of his car. It is hard to watch this kind of news because it reminds me of the problem that Mexico faced 4 years ago in Oaxaca when the APPO issue put an entire region under the control of the army and broke several fights involving protesters against the Mexican army. What is even sadder is that Thailand is not the only country in the world with violence in the streets right now, it is not necessary to mention our country and the Middle East wars in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Returning to the initial topic of the post, the fatalities include 14 civilians, among them the Japanese TV cameraman Hiroyuki Muramoto, whom Reuters said had worked for the news agency's Tokyo bureau for more than 15 years. He was found dead near the Democracy Monument. The government’s failure to disperse the protesters from their encampments may have hardened the red shirts' position and deepened the crisis that is now the deadliest political violence in Thailand since 1992. The leader of the protest movement, called Red Shirts for their clothing, said they would not talk with the government after Saturday’s deaths. These are very hard times for people in Bangkok, there are a lot of civilians that do not have any trouble with government and because a group of radicals do not agree with the government’s policies they have made of Bangkok a dangerous place right now. The Red Shirts support former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was deposed in a 2006 coup. They are demanding that Prime Minister Abhisit, who they claim was elected illegitimately, immediately dissolve the government and call new elections.

An example to follow

Every person that has investigated about the richest man on earth definitely has found the name of Donald Trump more than once. This American business magnate born in New York City 63 years ago is the owner of Trump Entertainment Resorts, which operates several casinos and hotels. He even has his own reality show called The Apprentice, a really interesting TV show in which the winner has the right to run one of Trump’s businesses. He is the owner of a lot of hotels and big towers around the world. But the reason I decided to make this post about Mr. Trump is because he reminds me a lot of what Tec is expecting us to do, be innovative leaders and be entrepreneurs. If it wasn’t for his big ideas, Donald Trump would surely not have even half of the money he owns right now. Reading an article in the newspaper, I found out that in1995 Trump bought a building located in Wall Street in New York. The old building was bought at the price of 1 million dollars. So Trump decided to make it a luxury building, with first class offices. Now the biggest businessman operates from there and the building is calculated to be worth around 400 million dollars, not so bad for an investment of 1 million dollars. This is the result of a person who thought and worked harder than others, he visualized a luxury building and he built it, ergo we have to learn from people like Mr. Trump.

Operation Valkyrie

When we think about people who were involved in the nazi party, we always tend to generalyze about them, and always is the same thing, they were bad. Yes, they did a lo things that damaged humanity and created a time of horrors among Europe, but they were also people who were involved in Nazi projects, who tried to stop Hitler and his followers to continue the war.
Some of these men, were officers like Friedrich Olbricht and coronel Claus Von Stauffernberg, attempt to bring order to Germany with a plan called "Operation Valkyrie" which involved the assassination of Hitler and a takeover of control of German cities. Between the principal motives they had, there was a strong bond for their beloved Germany, and they knew that Hitler was going to lose and the damages to germany would be bigger than expected.

So they saw an opportunity in Operation Valkyrie, that was an emergency continuity of goverment and control if by somehow one of the leaders could not continue their duty. The Valkyrie team, modified the operation in order to have control of German cities, disarm the SS, and arrest the different leadears once Hitler was death.

The plan was used in 1944, but unfortunately, failed. Stauffenberg was going to attend a meeting with Hiteler and some officers, he left the bomb and in the room and left to Berlin to take control. He started the operation, but when officers were noticed that Hitler was still alive, they arrested Stauffenberg and his associates. They were shot. They knew Germany was heading to defeat in war and destruction, so they wanted to save their home country.

The Pacific

Yesterday, I was watching with my dad the new show called "The Pacific" in HBO, since we are fans of the show "Band of Brothers" and this new show is from the same creators, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, we watched it with interest.

And as we expected it, it didn't dissapointed us, great drama, special effects, history, good characters, and a sense of reality that kept us watching to the screen. As we watch this type of shows, I like to ask my dad about different facts that are written in history, and he enjoys to answer my doubts.

In the episode, the marines are sent to secure an airfield in Guadalcanal, and fight against the counterattacks from the Japanese. In history, when we think about World War II, we foten think first in tha nazi party, mainly Europe, and the Allied armies with their advance throught Europe, but we need to know that this war was greater than we think, it involved different countries, several amounts of people, and great damages to nations around the world.

An example of this what the Pacific War, in which allied forces tried to take down the Japanes empire, and invaded different Pacific oceans. The war began 7 December 1941, with the invasion of Malaya and the Pearl Harbor attack, and it ended with the bombims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, resulting in the surrender of Japan on August 15, 1945.

I really think that this kind of shows are great, because they involved a type of entertaintment, and people can learn a little of history with them, but it's also good to investigate a little bit at the hostory files of those events, to learn what was the reality of it.

Mexican immigrants in other countries

What is better? To live in your natal country with small probabilities of getting a job or to go to a completely different country with bigger probabilities of working?

Most mexicans chose the second alternative; they prefer to go to work to other places like the U.S, Canada or Europe even if they will be apart from their families, because they know they will probably get a better job than the one they could get in Mexico.

But, do they really know what they possibilities of working are? Even if they travel somewhere else, they still have the chance of not getting a job because they are not competely prepared to do so. They just emmigrate because they don't find chances here, but that doesn't mean they will find a better one abroad.

The Mexican government doesn't seem to be taking actions over this topic. It only seems to tell people that it can be dangerous to go somewhere else to work; however, it looks like it is not willing to educate people personally to tell them what the real situation is if they go to work to another place.

But then, what should the Mexican people do? They don't have work here, neither in another country. I believe its about education and culture; Mexicans should still try to live and work in Mexico even if its hard, I consider that better than going somewhere else because they don't take the risks that that would imply.

The Mexican government should also be warned about this problem. They must try to convince Mexicans than going somewhere is risky and try, at the highest possible point, to create more jobs especially for the poor people whose decision of living abroad is really tentative.

The Story of Bottled Water

I was fascinated by "The story of stuff project" videos so I entered their web page, doing this I discovered that they had 3 video available, and another one that will be put on web at May.

The story of Bottled Water tells how bottled water got market. I really liked this video because I've always been wondering why does bottled water is sold if you can get water for almost free at your kitchen and also, why is it so popular drinking from them if they are just one of the many reasons that contaminate our world.

This video talks about how Fiji's publicity campaign got people to drink from bottles of water. They used three methods:

First they scared us by telling us that bottled water was cleaner than tab water. Then, they seduced us by putting a forest on their etiquettes trying to tell that the water was obtained from those forests when in fact they are harming them and infact those bottled water have always been gotten from.. a tab. Then, finally they mislead us, lets say that most of a country's water is polluted and we are obligated to buy and drink a bottle of water, while in fact those companies where the ones responsible for the contamination of the water in the first place.

I've never knew that bottle water companies had a lot to do in our society's global warming issues, it just isn't the fact that they are making more plastic stuff like bottles, but they are creating a bad habit on people's minds, like buying something we really don't need.

The Story of Cap and Trade

The Story of Cap & Trade from Story of Stuff Project on Vimeo.

This video posted on You tube explains how Cap and Trade works on a comic and interesting style.

The Cap and Trade law is a solution for a climate change by reducing the carbon dioxide emissions on companies. This works by giving a certain amount of permits to pollute or the use of fossil fuels to companies. Every year there will be fewer and fewer permits and companies will replace them for cleaner alternative nergies, as permits get fewer they will become more valuable, so companies will sell their carbon to other companies at a high price. It is a great solution for our climate change and economy too but unfortunately, it is not like we think it really is. Why?

This permits will be free. So it like we are paying them to pollute?

Offsetting. This works by removing the use of carbon and then government will sell the carbon just removed to another company. The issue here is that some companies will lie about their carbon removal and government will give carbon without even noticing that they shouldn't. In order words, companies will begin to lie about their carbon emissions.

Distraction. The Cap and Trade system is distracting us from seeing the real solutions to this environmental issues, like clean energies.

So, how will we solve our environmental issue? The video proposed this solutios:

-Having solid Caps
-Strong Laws
-Citizen Action
-Carbon Fees

So, what do you think about Cap and Trade now?

Don't do it!!

Now a days, many persons suffer of traumas and mental disorders that were developed during adolescence. This persons have been mistreated, abused and much more during a period of time and have created in them a fear of developing in life or in other aspect. What is this called? Bullying.

Bullying is when you mistreat, abuse, afect somebody physically, harass sexually, and make someone less than you to another person. This has affected many schools around the world and in jobs as well . What it is very unfair, is that sometimes, you know that someone does it and you do not make something to stop that. Maybe people doesn't report that because of fear, but we do not have to let that someone should be mistreated because we can someday be in the shoes of someone who is mistreated.

Fighting against bullying is not only homework of one person; it is responsability of students, teachers, parents, government and society. Not having or practicing values can guides us to make bullying to someone because it shows that we don't care about persons and that we can make someone feel less than us. However, making us deaf to coments of bullying is just another way to protect those persons that mistreat us. We should not leave this persons denigrate us, cause later on in life, we can see the results of a bad adolescence.

In my personal opinion, bullying is due to the scarcity of values in each person. If we don't teach values (specially respect) we are all screw up. In order to participate in a peaceful society, we have to show respect and to tolerate others. Our family has to guide us through values and we have to decide if making someone less than us is ethic or not. For me, practicing bullying is not cool, is something that show who you really are and that could put you a tag for the rest of your life.
